Does Sin shortcurit active spiritual gifts in the believers life?

Only mortal sins can do that, not venial sins. Of course, constantly giving in to some venial sin can lead one into moral sin and so be damaging to one’s spiritual growth.

Daniel Marsh:
When a person sins mortally, that person loses the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, the gifts are obviously not going to happen.

When a person sins venially, he does not lose the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

When a person sins venially again and again and again, it tends to make it more likely for the person sin mortally because he becomes desensatized to sin. It’s kindof like a person on a diet. Now a cookie here or a cookie there isn’t going to blow your whole diet. Eating a whole bag of chips will, though. Now if a person is on a diet and cheats here or there with a cookie, that’s not so bad. But if the person cheats with a cookie, and then again, and then again, then when he sees that bag of chips he’s going to say, 'hey I just had a bunch of cookies this bag of chips isnt that much worse," and he’ll have the chips and blow his diet.

Same thing with venial sin. If you slip up and yell at your friend here and there, that’s not really a big deal. But if you yell at her, and then don’t try to keep it in check and yell at her again, and again, and again, eventually you are going to be so used to sin that when you’re tempted to some mortal sin, you’ll say, 'well hey, that’s not so much worse than yelling at Jane all the time," and you will be more likely to commit the mortal sin.

Thank you, Lazer for fleshing out what I tried to convey, unsuccessfully, as it turned out! :o Thanks again! 👍

Your welcome. I tend to make giant long posts that take up half the page so I don’t mind! 😛

Please list the venial sins, mortal sins and others if there are any.

It is all up to God. He can make our spiritual gifts function based on our state of Holiness. If we get joy out of the gifts, it would not surprise me to see them become more limited the more and worse we sin.

Are you looking for a list of what sins are considered mortal and venial or such sins relating to your thread topic?

ANY sin negatively impacts the efficacious exercise of the spiritual gifts.

Hi Toni, do I know you from somewhere?

And, what specifically should I look for in those links?
