I dont get what an example of spiritual suffering would be, i am not talking about mental (or emotional) sufferings. But examples of spiritual sufferings.

I’m not sure what your talking about. Do you want examples of how our spirits suffer?
Your spirit suffers when one sins!??.

No thats not it what i am wondering is what an example of spiritual suffering is, like when a saint suffers spiritually.

Another example is like that sometimes many saints suffered mentally and phsyically. I know they suffered spiritually, maybe through the devil attacking them? I am not sure what spiritual suffering would be soo.

When experiencing pain in any form, there is nothing better that we pray to Jesus.
There will not be any pain made me fall, because you always see the eyes of the Lord is full of suffering. Lonely path that God has helped me go through each bear bitter wisely. The love of God has turned a dark night in the city glow. Lord Jesus, please stay with me, just to stay alone. I will no longer fear spent putting hands up if you feel that God is with me.

Well no i was asking this because in the divine mercy chaplet i meditate on his passion and for the scourging i usually pray for victims of spiritual and physical abuse and for the crowing of thorns i think of victims going through mental sufferings. My basic idea is that any damage you do to the body ( the victims specified in here) you do to jesus and so basically here i am just reminding myself of all the people suffering mentally, physcially and spiritually and how that the damage done to them by others basically in the process hurt jesus as well, during his passion, because they were hitting his body, if that makes sense. What i pray for is what jesus wants, for them not to give up hope or despair and with his loving mercy, it helps them.

Sorry if this doens’t make any sense lol.

But back to my question, what would guys see as spiritual suffering?

It still doesn’t quite make sense to me especially when you have removed the physical and mental suffering. Our spirit suffers when we sin against God, self, and one another.🙂

Any suffering we experience can be spiritual if we share it with God and bear it in holiness.

But does spiritual warfare happen to everyone? I know some people have spiritual sufferings, would that be spiritual warfare? I doubt it though. But i am honestly talking about normal everyday problems, but not problems due to sin. But mainly just suffering spiritually. Just as a person suffers mentally, a person can suffer spiritually. Help me out you guys 😦

You may be having a little trouble understanding spirituality and suffering:confused:😃

Loneliness…stripped of emotion and consolation. All that is left is naked faith to live by. Wondering if God is pleased or displeased, yet going on as if nothing is different in fulfilling what one thinks God wants of them. Almost as if God has disappeared or no longer exists. Prayer brings no relief…just trudging along on hard faith.

And at the same time, abiding with whatever decision God decides, even abandonment.

For others it may seem as if their particular temptations will never end tho many prayers have been offered. That is until it is realized that those very temptations are blessings from him by giving them chance to show real love for him. Because it suddenly becomes apparent that those very temptations are ways of suffering on the cross with him and the way to union with him.

And there is the constant process of cleansing. Where a person’s hunger for God begins to see more and more how much they are like Peter, “depart from me O Lord, for I am a sinful man.” They see more and more their attachments and faults which causes them discouragement and pain. The never ending process of pulling out weeds when they thought they had a handle on them. The clean up is discouraging since they want so much to be one with him but they see how messy their condition. Then more pain of begging him to have mercy for the job seems impossible.

These are just some of the things along that narrow road.

May the Good Shepherd fill you with peace.

Many saints suffered spiritually by going through the same pain of loss the damned experience in Hell, or the devil torments them relentlessly, etc.

Here are some spiritual sufferings: feelings of not loving God or of not loving Him enough; feelings of dryness during prayer, feelings of scrupulosity; feelings of sloth; feelings of despair; the loss of a spiritual director. God bless you.

These are great examples of all the things i go through but does this apply for non religious people. Like atheists or maybe just faithful christians or just your everyday people

To you guys what would physical and mental sufferings be as well? This applies to all of humanity in my chaplet i usually pray for

1st part of passion- novena for the day( i go on a constant cycle of days ) and purgatory and for them to come closer to his heart

2nd part - imagine his scourging as the evil in this world (through people or the devil or his demons) hurting the body of christ spiritually and also physically(thats why i said through people)
3rd- The crowning of thorns and the spitting and hitting of jesus is similar to the evil of this world hurting the body mentally( whether it be based from their own evil actions or from others or the devil, most of the time i think it is the devil and is started from their evil actions or they could be just innocent idk)

For the 2nd and 3rd part this is basically god’s mercy bringing them into his heart and giving them his powerful mercy

4th- God’s people abandoning him and doing evil and sin and thereby making jesus suffer to the point of almost dying on his way to the cross(this also includes the evil who hurt the good)(The motion of mercy in this part of the passion is for the evil to come back to his heart and learn their lession)

5th-the unrepentant and dying sinners of this world that hurt god so much(for them this is their last hope of god having mercy on them).

Sorry if this is hard to explain sort of but it all involves the whole world coming to his heart, good and bad alike. But i mainly just need help defining the meaning of spiritual mental and physical suffering for the world, not just the religious.

The spiritual sufferings of Catholics differ from the sufferings of Atheists because, although Atheists do suffer, they suffer as pagans without faith and without God; spiritually, Atheists are dead, they have nothing to do with God, so their spiritual life is empty and void (with no Catholic spirituality, the one good spirituality that exists), thus Atheists can not even begin to compare with Catholics who are in a state of sanctifying grace and spiritually suffering. God bless you.

That is not true, hold on there, i know people who are good atheists and still suffer inside. Maybe because of a death from a loved one, for example. But again this is just an example.

Who said that Atheists do not suffer inside? I did not say this at all. Of course they suffer like all human beings do. I said that Atheists suffer, but what they suffer can not be compared to what Catholics in a state of grace suffer spiritually – by this I do not mean that Atheists suffer less than Catholics who are in a state of grace, but I mean that they suffer “spiritually” quite differently. How could an Atheist who is dead spiritually and who rejects God suffer “spiritually” the same way a Catholic in a state of grace suffers? Atheists don’t even believe in God or have faith – how can their “spirituality” (if you can even call it that) even begin to compare with a Catholic’s who is in a state of grace? God bless you.
