How do you engage in spiritual war far? Someone suggested to me to make a list of scripture verses to recite over myself each day.

That sounds interesting.
I recently bought a St Benedict medal and I think there are some such prayers too.
@(name removed by moderator) may have an idea about this.

I go with St Faustina on this one:
'Jesus began, “My daughter, I want to teach you about spiritual warfare” (1760).
1.Never trust in yourself but abandon yourself totally to My will.
2. In desolation, darkness and various doubts, have recourse to Me and to your spiritual director. He will always answer you in my name.
3.Do not bargain with any temptation; lock yourself immediately in My Heart.
4. At the first opportunity, reveal the temptation to the confessor.
5. Put your self-love in the last place, so that it does not taint your deeds.
6. Bear with yourself with great patience. ’

Go to mass as often as possible. Not only on Sunday but midweek too. Adore Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament frequently. Pray the rosary daily. Wear the brown scapular. Consecrate yourself to Our Lady. Go to confession at least once a month. Have blessed statues, pictures, St Benedict and miraculous medals in your home and on your person.

Trust totally in Jesus. Do not be afraid.

Pray for others, especially those who do not pray or believe in God. They desperately need prayer. Pray for conversions.

Mine was blessed by a priest but with an ordinary blessing.

The prayer or blessing in the link is supposed to be said by a priest over the medal. See the small print just above the prayer, right hand side.

Thanks and God bless.

I follow the advice of good priests, I receive the Sacraments often, if I choose sin I quickly choose confession.

The St Michael Prayer and the Rosary and just saying NO to evil

I think maybe the trick is to recognise when you’re being drawn in the wrong way and use a lot of self control to stop, and pray for assistance. Not always an easy thing to do in the heat of the moment.

As they say, no combat, no victory, no victory no crown.

I am not sure what you mean by “spiritual warfare”. We have a daily war to wage between the flesh and the spirit. There is also the daily warfare against the forces of evil (demons). The former is a battle we should prepare to wage daily!. The latter I don’t engage in it by choice, but it is a daily necessity for me.

I think memorizing Scripture is a great weapon, as Jesus demonstrated when He quoted Scripture to the Devil. Ephesians 6 is especially helpful for both of these types of spiritual warfare.

I wear one of these daily.

I was under the impression that it must be done by a member of the order of St. Benedict. At least, our priest blesses all the “regular” sacramentals then has a special Benedictine blessing for the medals.

I have read that too but I also read somewhere recently that a priest can use that blessing, I may be wrong and it should be checked to be sure.
Thanks.

So if I were to quote scripture allowed and call upon the intercession of my angel and the saints that is engaging in spiritual war?

I suppose it depends upon the context/situation. You can stand in your shower and sing scriptural songs and ask for the intercession of the angel while soaping yourself, but I am not sure that constitutes spiritual warfare!

I agree that we should not go out picking fights with our Adversary, the Devil.

Go to reconcilliation very regularly for the the Graces it gives. Speak to your priest about your issues.

to engage in spiritual war far is a daily exercise that starts with prayer. you must put on the whole armour of God recorded in: Ephesians ch6 v 10-18 do an indepth study.

I’m part of a charismatic Catholic group. They mentioned this. Thanks!

Happy are the Peacemakers because they shall be called the sons of God.
We don’t begin any type of warfare. The Enemy does. If you are under temptations you are already in the middle of the fight. To win is to not sin and to win big is to not let any sinful thought inside of you.
God bless you and protect you and guide you!

Yes, St Paul in Ephesians gives an excellent description of a soldier of Christ and of our spiritual weapons for spiritual warfare using the metaphor of a soldier dressed for battle.
