Says who? If any human being can, even atheists or Satanists, why wouldn’t angels? Just because the words are uttered, they are not always meant, i.e., they are lies, fruits of the father of lies, satan.

:blessyou:
Really? How many theistic Satanists have you known? I’ve never met one that would utter the name of Jesus much less confess Him as Lord. But, maybe you know better than I. I’m done with the thread. Any questions you have can be answered by my website. Feel free to browse, scoff and huff your way through it. If you have questions about what you see you can email me from that site.

Peace…

HI,

I have an acquintance who is a member of a spiritualist church. I was out to dinner with her and some other friends the other night and the best thing I found I could do was just chat a bit about some of my experiences of the spiritual side of life from a Catholic standpoint and mention a few experiences I have had with the Holy Spirit, Mary, Christ etc and maybe she might contemplate a few other things.

A lot of people are seeking, and some don’t know what they are seeking and some get pulled into thinking they are seeking God through paganistic and occultish practices. These people are difficult to argue with as the devil has given them experiences that backs up their beliefs. Best thing I found was to try to be and act like the true light of Christ and hopefully they will see that what they view as the light, might not necessarily be the right light, and might maybe try and seek what we have found.

When I was in contact with a lot of New Agers I plugged the Holy Spirit a lot and I prayed for them. At least with spiritualists I found most were seeking. At least with spiritualists you can attempt to give them something else to try out and seek.

Mary is a good intercessor to ask to help Spiritualists and the like.

God Bless,

That’s what I miss about my old co-worker, 1 I’d love to tell him, “Hey, remember all that junk I used to babble about the ‘spirits’, not there anymore!!!” and tell him I returned to Church a year ago. Way back while still a new ager, he tried to get me to go to Mass… dummy me back then thought it was more important to do a reading for a friend. Oj vey! I’ve not been a smart cookie but I’m so very thankful I’m not in those massive deceived days anymore.

I can’t talk too long to my old friends about NAM junk because I guess I do end up sounding like I’m preaching! 😦 My friend’s husband told me that. But you get out of that darkness and you so much want to see others out of it too. I don’t miss those days and it’s comforting knowing at least one friend of mine from that time who was in it a bit is out of it too.

The world isn’t going to make sense to me. Have to stay focused, keep my priorities straight and keep going forward in spite of the world. 🙂 Keep praying for my friends & family.

God bless

Thanks Kyria,

Thats really good advice. I certainly am praying for them all, and I spoke to my priest today about it. His advice was really just the same, and he didn’t dismiss it as some priests perhaps would.

I did sit there waiting wondering if he would think I was nuts, and if he did, he didn’t show it!

My mum is at my sisters house this weekend, so won’t be here for mass tomorrow, but she has said that she will come next week, so I just have to work on the in-laws!

I will try to engage them perhaps in conversation about their beliefs, and if they are really seeking, then perhaps I can throw some things in that they can think about.

God bless

Just go to any liberal blog or watch any R-rated movie: f* Jesus, and from there down.

It seems though that you have a problem thinking of the devil and its minions as liars, as though they were more limited than humans in malice and evil. They lie, their lips can pour sweetness in your ears even if that’s what it takes to poison your soul.

:blessyou:

Exactly! Why does scripture call the devil the FATHER OF LIES? Lies, untruths, falsehoods… sure he’ll give enough to lure people through psychics and other demonic junk but you’ll always find something untrue. Why do you think I don’t watch TV anymore? I can avoid stuff on the internet but I don’t need to be fed by the god of this world, I’d rather keep my eyes UP to where my HELP comes from!

satan himself appeared to St. Jerome as Jesus. Why do you think that his minions wouldn’t lie to you?

:blessyou:
What does the first sentence have to do with the second?

Have you ever spoken to a demon? If not, how do you know anything about them outside of what you have “heard” from others or what you can glean from Scriptures (which is pretty sparse considering the volumes of work)? I repeat: Out of the many demons I have met, I have never seen one able to repeat the name of Jesus, even in cursing. It’s not about lying. I don’t know what that has to do with it.

Unless you have faced demons and exorcised them, you only have second hand understanding of them. Actually read works from exorcists and their encounters with the demonic and with Satanists. I would rather take information from those who have firsthand knowledge than stories you have heard from saints or accounts that you cannot verify.

There are many good books I could recommend if you are interested in learning. Anything from Father Gabriele Amorth and Father Malachi Martin is good and are Catholic sources. There are other non-Catholic sources, but these two sources will keep you busy for a while.

What does that have to do with what I said?

What does the Devil and demons lying have to do with them being unable to mutter the holy name of Jesus? Of course they lie. I have first hand experience in that. The exception is when they are put under oath in the binding name of Jesus Christ. They can be forced to reveal information.

As a matter of fact, demons are limited compared to humans. We are made in the very image of God - demons and angels are not. We are children of God - demons and angels are not. There’s actually a big difference between humans and spirits. When their hand is forced they must obey. They are bound by supernatural laws that humans are not. I would much rather deal with a demon than a human. Humans still have free-will and are free to make their choices.

Read the works of Father Amorth. Be englightened.

When we pray to the Saints for intercession, isn’t that communicating with the dead?
