Hi everyone. I am spiritually confused right now. I want to be a faithful Catholic because I know it is the true faith and I am afraid of Hell. However, I want to be a liberal in a way because I want to satisfy my best friend, Darrell. He would be happy with me either way but he wants me to be happy and he thinks that I am the happiest when I am a liberal. Which that is sort of true. I feel restricted and judged when I am Catholic. I hate feeling that way but I honestly feel that way. I don’t know why but I do. I need some serious prayers everyone. I want to be happy in the Catholic faith, not fearful. What should I do? 🤷 Please pray for me.

Lord Jesus, You are the One True source of happiness and You are the only means to securing our eternity with Our Father in Heaven. We trust in You and ask You to send Your spirit to dear Holly. Bless this young lady with the courage she will need to escape the wolves in sheep’s clothing who seek to steal her soul from you. Let her know that there are many “liberal” concepts that are actually rooted in Christian love, but have become evil in the hands of misguided politics. Help her to love her neighbor as herself, to care for the poor, to be a good steward of the earth and to be a light to others because of you, not because of godless liberalism.

Mary, Our Mother, teach Holly to pray. Intercede on her behalf and ask Your Son to speak to her in a special way as she begins to face the challenges of our world. Help her to discern Your wil and to find the truth admid all of the lies she will certainly be fed by her well-meaning friend. Give her courage, perserverance, devotion, and most of all charity for all around her. Continue to bless her with the desire to know you and her willingness to seek the truth.

We also ask for the intercession of the saints. Please bless Darrell. He is young and needs guidance. We beg for Jesus to rescue this lost sheep and ask that both Holly and Darrell might become witnesses to Your Glory. Let Holly be the light that brings him back into Your fold.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen…

Praying for you Holly.

Stay close to Jesus in the sacraments – He will strengthen you.

hmmm do I want to base my life on the revealed Word of God who created me and who loves me, or do I want to please my best friend. tough problem. do you honestly think you will find happiness being “liberal” whatever that means, if it means breaking God’s law? if so you have a strange notion of happiness.

Thanks everyone for your prayers. I have decided to come back to the Catholic Church as a conservative and orthodox Roman Catholic. Thank you again. Truth is of the utmost importance to me. 🙂

Sweetie follow the first commandment that your Father in Heaven gave you…“Love the Lord your God above all things”…this is what will truly set you free and fill you with joy.

He gifted you this amazing church, full of unending treasures! But what you have to be careful of is pleasing people…that is a vacuum that never stops asking of you, the more you give, the more it wants.

Your Father in heaven loves you and you love Him back…It is so alleviating to the soul and to all the senses. You give to your mother church and she lovingly enriches you back. It is all simple when one lets go of the traps of the material world. Look around you, the material world is having a meltdown, because of it’s greed and execes…but your mother catholic church is standing there solid, beautiful…through so many centuries, civilizations, wars, ups, downs, etc. and the Lord gifted you with her 🙂

Like I tell my friends…“Yes… there may be many new young brides out there offering to become my new mother…with their fresh beauty, full of youth, energy and even a couple of inviting virtues…but none are as beautifully deep as my “viejita” (old one/granny). Because in every one of her scars and wrinkles there is a story of true love, challenge, victory, loyalty, truthfulness, sincerity, sacrifice, and enough of virtues, graces and willingness to go forward for many generations to come, by the Lord’s Holy Will.”

Love her like a mother who has many wrinkles and scars on her, so you can be able to one day enjoy the plentitud of heaven

God Bless you

Holly I found a prayer I thought you might like to hold onto. Prayer to know God’s Will-God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Author of glory, grant me spiritual wisdom and revelation. Enlighten the eyes of my mind with a deep knowledge of you and your holy will. May I understand of what nature is the hope to which you call me, what is the wealth of the splendor of your inheritance among the Saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of your power toward me. Amen! Peace in Christ!

Thank you Galilea. This is a very helpful post.

Thank you for this prayer Myhouse. It seems like it will be quite helpful. 🙂

Holy Spirit please guide Holly, and help her know Your will and to have peace about Your wishes for her life

Holly, are you constantly ‘trying’? If you’re always thinking “I cannot do this, I cannot think that, it is sinful,” then you miss out on the joy of being Catholic, and the peace of Christ.

If this is what you’re doing, and you find you’re happier as a ‘liberal’ because you can just do whatever you want, then perhaps an adjustment is in order. Don’t think about what you can’t do, often (as was in my case) about things that don’t even really effect what you’re doing right now. Instead practice short prayers, like “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you! Save Souls!” and just the Sign of the Cross, without an additional prayer afterwards.

Be orthodox, not ‘conservative’ or ‘liberal’. Those are too limiting, as, if we’re honest, we have policies in our church that are in both ‘camps’.

I’d also suggest staying away from debates about moral issues for a while. Just take comfort in your relationship with Our Lord and Lady. Don’t be on the forefront of the battle, in other words.

I’ll pray for you as well. God be with you.
