I intend to make a pilgrimage to Fátima some time in the next 2-4 years and want to know how you’d prepare spiritually for a pilgrimage. I know the story of Our Lady of Fátima and I’d go to Confession beforehand but how else would you prepare for something like that?

I went for my pilgrimage to Fatima,Portugal about 2 years ago and what a beautiful place it was:thumbsup: The major apparition took place when Mother Mary appeared I think under the tree to 3 young shepherds. The tree had been cut off by relic hunters then so the place of the apparation is now an open small basilica with a blessed altar which the statute of Mother Mary in a bulletproof glass erects and we can 24 hours say our prayers before it.And the major basilica is in front of it and the chapel is also part of the major basilica, but is erected outside.
Fatima is a big village and def.you must visit it,plenty to experience esp.spiritually.Besides that there are hotels and restaurants nearby the basilica. Also there are certain times on that day that the mass takes place and we all say the rosary then the priests will uncover the statute of Mother Mary bringing it with them and the candle procession begins, beautiful!
I think what you can do to prepare is while you are before the statute of Mary, contemplate the moments and as I mentioned earlier this small basilica opens 24 hrs, you’ll see people sit on the ground outside the basilica to pray, wonderful to see
My mom’s heel was fully cured from swelling and it happened after she has finished her prayer before the statute:thumbsup:
Godwilling we’ll go back to thank her personally in Fatima.

Well, when I went to Lourdes, France, I learned everything I could about the apparitions, St. Bernadette and her family. When I visited the grotto, it was more than I expected to experience. The site and sound of 20,000 people, with lighted candles, singing Ave Maria, brought tears to my eyes.
So, learn everything you can. However, one very important thing to remember, this pilgrimage will be your experience, don’t try to compare it to others.
