This is a good example of the attitude I discussed above.I also believe that far too many people (myself included, at times), will lable anything that does not fit in within their preconceived notions of what is correct, is automatically an abuse.
The use of EMHC, and the reception of Communion in the hand ARE NOT ABUSES!!! You donât have to like them and you donât have to paricipate in them either. But please do not lable them abuses. Now, I have just a question for everyone who has contacted their bishop. What have you asked about and did it change? Because there are things I would like to change such as the constant use of EMHC, the receiving of Communion in the hands, etc. But Iâm just not sure if this is something that bishops are willing to change or if this is something that theyâve instituted.
They are both perfectly licit practices. The decision of how the are applied is up to the pastor to some extent and the Bishop. Calling licit and acceptable variations & practices âabusesâ because you donât like them is not doing the laity or the Church any good. Hereâs an example of what I mean.
Our focus needs to be âbuilding upâ the kingdom, meeting people where the are, and leading them back to the truth not âtearing it downâ because of what âIâ want. think it right, better, or more pious!!
