What about a situation where the civally married couple has not, from the day of the civil ceremony, had an intimate relationship. I am married to an individual who was married in the church. I have no previous marriage. We have been celibate throughout our civil marriage.
I have not practiced my Catholic religion for some time. I began attending mass 2 years ago and desire to participate fully in the church and the sacraments. Appreciate opinions, feedback, advice on my situation.

Talk to your pastor. Hopefully you will be able to receive the sacraments provided you continue to live as brother and sister.

You need to go have a talk with your priest. There needs to be a serious reason why you can’t separate. You would have to go to confession and be under spiritual direction and discuss a number of things. There needs to an petition for a decree of nullity for the previous marriage. You might need to receive the sacraments at a different parish. You have to be extremely cautious about being a source of scandal.
