Water in John 3 is an emblem for God’s word. This is seen also in drinking the waters of eternal life in John 4:14; in the living water of John 7:37-38; and other emblems used for God’s word: a Lamp, it illumines (Ps 119:105); a hammer, it breaks up the hardened heart (Jer 23:29); water, it cleanses (Ps 119:9; Jn 15:3; Eph 5:26).

Being born of water does not mean the laver of baptism, nor a baptism of desire; being born of water means being born of the illuminating, heart-breaking, purifying word of God. 👍

Be careful 😦
Being born again is how we become the members of the body of Christ right? Thats what you believe isnt it :yup: even though it is your theology thats what you believe.

But what does the bible say.

**(1 Cor 12:13) “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body.” ** What body is that sandusky? The Body of Christ.

Baptism (born again) is how we become members of Jesus. Not by one act of faith on an altar call back in Dec. Im not dening that you experenced the holy Spirit. But it is not how you was born agian.

In fact Baptism is a means of experencing the Holy Spirit

In (Acts 2:38) “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit”
This verse goes well with (Jn 3:5) being born of water and Spirit.

Hey Sandusky,

I just got back from an apologetics page to look up more difficult biblical passages for you. That is what you said in an earlier post, isn’t it. Pretty judgemental comments.

Moving on…

How many times in your life have you been baptised of water? Why, it’s just a symbol!

The chapter is not about individual salvation Jan, but about the salvation of Jew and Gentile in God’s plan. Paul is explaining the reason that Israel has been “cut off.” They have been “cut off” to bring in the Gentiles, thereby making Israel jealous as they see the Gentiles receiving God’s blessings, and they receiving God’s severity.

In their grafting in, the Gentiles have become “boastful.” Boasting is the opposite of faith.

Paul is scolding them for being boastful, and warning them, that IF they do not stop boasting, and continue in faith, they too will receive the severity of God, and run the risk of being “cut off.”

The church will apostatize at some point, if it has not already, and God will judge the apostate church (cf Rev 2:15, 16; 3:16) just as surely as He judged apostate Israel.

Within apostate Israel, and the apostate church, God always keeps for Himself a “remnant,” those who have not “bowed the knee to Baal” (11:3-5).
**

And.??? the point is one can be cut off, or UNSAVED, fall from grace.!!! Gods word does not change., … We can fall from grace if we continure in sin or live a life of disobedience. to Gods commandments…
