SPLIT: Divorced & remarried non-Catholics becoming Catholic?

What would happen if a non-catholic married couple wanted to become Catholics, but one of them had been previously married. Would they be told to separate, and get an annulment? What if they couldn’t get an annulment but still now believed in the Catholic church. Would They be told to divorce?
