If you want the Truth, you have to go to the source of the Truth, and that would be God’s Word-JESUS, …and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Surely you knew that Jesus is the Word of God in the Flesh, the Incarnation, the Only Begotton Son of God, the 2nd person of the Blessed Trinity, God the Son, thats JESUS.

The Catholic Church STILL hands on all of HIS teachings, always has, always will.

You’ll get parts of the truth here and there in other denominatoins but in the Church that HE founded, you will get the FULLNESS of the TRUTH, JESUS HIMSELF-
Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. As Jesus Himself said…“Take, eat.” (you didn’t think He meant for you to eat the Bible did you?)😃
What do you have to say about the other book you follow, the Catechism, is there anything scriprural in that? Ralph

You’ve obviously never read it, have you. Each page of the Catechism quotes more scripture than you have quoted in this whole thread.

If you can’t give logical scriptural reasons for your positions then we are not interested. Your little one-line posts have no credibility and demonstrate a level of immaturity.

The apostolic people are all gone from this earth and Jesus said: “no one comes to the Father but by Me”, He did not say to go to a priest. That is very clear in scripture. Ralph
The apostolic people are gone from this earth??
Ralphy there are over 1.2 billion Catholics who will look at you silly if you say this sort of nonsence to their faces.

You can’t even tell us how you know scripture is inspired or how you got the scripture you have so why would anyone expect you to be able to recognize who the apostolic people are?

No one comes to the Father but by Me?
Then what are you doing looking in the bible for Jesus? Jesus is where His Church is not where the bible is; although the Catholic Church has the Word of God incorporated into its liturgy and The Living Word of God in its sacrament of Eucharist (body and blood of Jesus). If you want to come to the Father then come to the Catholic Church and let us introduce you to Jesus in the sacrament of The Church itself.

James

Here is a scriptural quote: Jesus said " no one comes to the Father but by me". God does not need a puppet to speak for Him. Ralph
So can you please explain what you are doing in there trying to tell us that the bible will judge us and why you think you need to speak for God? Who is pulling your strings Ralphy?

James

Sorry, but you are incorrect. The first Christians had no doubts about how to determine which was the true Church and which doctrines the true teachings of Christ. The test was simple: Just trace the apostolic succession of the claimants.

Apostolic succession is the line of bishops stretching back to the apostles. All over the world, all Catholic bishops are part of a lineage that goes back to the time of the apostles, something that is impossible in Protestant denominations (most of which do not even claim to have bishops).

The role of apostolic succession in preserving true doctrine is illustrated in the Bible. To make sure that the apostles’ teachings would be passed down after the deaths of the apostles, Paul told Timothy, “[W]hat you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 2:2). In this passage he refers to the first three generations of apostolic succession—his own generation, Timothy’s generation, and the generation Timothy will teach.

The Church Fathers, who were links in that chain of succession, regularly appealed to apostolic succession as a test for whether Catholics or heretics had correct doctrine. This was necessary because heretics simply put their own interpretations, even bizarre ones, on Scripture. Clearly, something other than Scripture had to be used as an ultimate test of doctrine in these cases.

Thus the early Church historian J. N. D. Kelly, a Protestant, writes, “[W]here in practice was [the] apostolic testimony or tradition to be found? . . . The most obvious answer was that the apostles had committed it orally to the Church, where it had been handed down from generation to generation. . . . Unlike the alleged secret tradition of the Gnostics, it was entirely public and open, having been entrusted by the apostles to their successors, and by these in turn to those who followed them, and was visible in the Church for all who cared to look for it” (Early Christian Doctrines, 37).

For the early Fathers, “the identity of the oral tradition with the original revelation is guaranteed by the unbroken succession of bishops in the great sees going back lineally to the apostles. . . . [A]n additional safeguard is supplied by the Holy Spirit, for the message committed was to the Church, and the Church is the home of the Spirit. Indeed, the Church’s bishops are . . . Spirit-endowed men who have been vouchsafed ‘an infallible charism of truth’” (ibid.).

Thus on the basis of experience the Fathers could be “profoundly convinced of the futility of arguing with heretics merely on the basis of Scripture. The skill and success with which they twisted its plain meaning made it impossible to reach any decisive conclusion in that field” (ibid., 41).
Roman catholic teaching has a lot of power, when it can make a statement that some of their are people are “infallible” and so many will believe this statement, there is another word that seems to fit this situation, I call it “gullible”. Ralph

I belong to the catholic church. I do not belong to the “Roman” catholic church. The Body of Christ makes up His church and I belong to the Body of Christ. Amen. Ralph

I am not trying to tell you that the bible will judge us, I know the bible will judge us and I gave scripture for that statement. I am not speaking for God, God is speaking through me, as I am only quoteing His words. Ralph

I will soon have a catechism, so I will check it out. Ralph

I’m confused.

God is speaking through you?

God is speaking through you? You mean like a pope Ralphy or like Ballams donkey? 😃

I’ll presume you meant the prior. Shall we call you Pope Ralphy?

James

No you don’t.

How old are you anyway? Your posts look like a kid’s post. Are you 18? You have to be 18 to join the forum you know.
This is one of the weakest debating techniques, trying to undermine another posters credibility, by suggesting that their thoughts and writings, are that of an immature youth.

It’s been tried on me before, and true to form, having ignored the comment, the poster left shortly after, as he or she, had nothing else to say of any importance.

It generally is a sign that you are in over your head and you no longer possess an ability to defend that what you are supposed to be defending.

Like the guy who pointed out that I had incorrectly used the word " Their" instead of using They’re".

I’m beginning to see that this a standard tactic around here. Attack the poster, not the post. 🤷

Why don’t you send this junior member to the bible and show him from there what God says about this subject. Ralph
Better yet, let’s go and ask the writers and editors of the bible what they meant.

Ralphy: If Jesus didn’t want the disciples to transfer any power to people after their deaths why did they lay hands on people that they knew would be alive after they died?

Why did they lay hands on people?

Ralphy: If you only need to confess your sins directly to Jesus why did He give that power to the dsiciples? What was the purpose of even giving them in their limited lifetimes that RETAINING power?

Ralphy: If you had been alive during the times of the apostles and they had retained one of your sins like St. Paul did the incestuous Corinthian–would you have respected that power that Jesus had transferred to the disciples?

St. Paul was not of the original 12 yet he forgave in 2 Corinthian 2:10 “In the person of Christ”.

St. Matthias was not one of the original 12 yet the disciples at the urging of Peter gave him that office.

Are you saying that they didn’t have that power or that the Holy Spirit could not work through them–if Jesus didn’t want the Holy Spirit to work through the disciples couldn’t Jesus have just named Matthias to the 12 Himself?

What authority did people in the church obey when there was no bible? Do you think the Holy Spirit personally answered each and every question they had?

And what did Jesus mean when he said “whatever you BIND on Earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on Earth will be loosed in heaven”?

Was Jesus wrong for TRANSFERING that power and AUTHORITY to the disciples?

If the disciples transferred power to others that Jesus had transferred to them are you telling me that Jesus hadn’t given them that authority when He said WHATEVER you bind and WHATEVER you loose?

What part of WHATEVER do you not understand?

**Well; main mistake in these posts of our protestant friend Ralphy, seems to be his quotation and conviction on which further wrong conclusions arise:
“The apostles are dead…”

Nobody ever is, ever was, or ever will be dead (unless God vanishes or wipes out the hell one day into nonexistance).
All who die, will die and ever died, are very much more real alive and conscious, than they ever had been on their earthly life. It’s like a sudden full consciousness after being in a snooze.
Such right after death!

Now everyone has a legal successor (heir). The heir apparent of St. Peter is the Pope.

All administrative bodies of the Church Jesus founded, had been passed on from the very start. Otherwise Jesus’ foundation would be rather senseless.

Previous poster mentioned:
“St. Matthias was not one of the original 12 yet the disciples at the urging of Peter gave him that office.”

By the way: My son Axel was baptized right aside the grave of Matthias - it’s in Trier/Germany - the Matthias-Basilika.

Do you have scripture for all those statements, or are they all from the Roman catholic church. Ralph
