Hmm…since I have never done this I don’t know if it’s even possible.

Thank you! It bothers me that is has actually come to this, but I don’t know what else to do towards someone like DLClark who is so obstinate.

How will absaining from meat give you virtue of self controll? Does the Bible say that if you abstain from meat we will have self control?
The Bible also doesn’t say that if I push the little “up” arrow, the sound on my TV set will become louder; nevertheless, it does.

St. Paul exhorts us to do penance, and he also exhorts us to develop self-control. Denying ourselves pleasures is a good way of developing self-control. (That’s why even rich parents deny their children their wants, from time to time, so that they learn personal self-discipline and don’t become spoiled.)

I love this! 👍 I’m going to have to use it on one of my protestant friends that reminds me of our friend DL! 😛 Thanks!

You can also use the Bible quote which is the only place “Faith alone” is used.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. King James version or “faith alone, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

The truely wonderful thing about Confession is that it is so right for human psychology. It’s a confrontation with the self, which is then revealed to another, in the person of the priest. So in one action Confession takes away complacancy, selfishness. and the idea of sinlessness.
Then you are placed at the feet of the Crucified One, and are confronted with your wretchedness, and His saving love.

All right ladies and gentlemen, as you can see DL is not interested in the information we have to give him regarding “how to save his soul and reduce time in purgatory”. He seems only to be interested in how to “one up you” in a show of intelligence about the Bible. He is not aware of the vast store of knowledge that we have that has been passed down to us because our church is the one that Jesus himself founded… you know, that information that the apostles passed on by word of mouth instead of writing down in the Bible. DL probably isn’t aware of who wrote the new testament either… little does he know that it was the fathers of the CATHOLIC CHURCH that did so and it was by their choice what was put into the Bible. There is so much information you do not know DL…just because you are a protestant and choose not to come into the fullness of Christ’s church and the fullness of His knowledge. We don’t need to prove anything to you. You may ask, if you really have a question…and we are happy to give you answers. But this baiting game is not winning you any points on the saint scale. Its just a prideful game you play to prove how smart you are. So, get serious. Everyone knows you’re just playing games.

OK you want chapter and verse about what I just said, I know you…here it is:

John 21:25 -not everything is written down!😃

…and THATS why we know a lot of what we know about penance and many other things. Your protestant faith just doesn’t have all the information, friend.
