It is not anything related to my life, or any act I do, except the act of vocalizing my opinion on behalf of some others, out of compassion. But reading your entries, that seems to be wrong .Why would God give us a discerning mind, and then asks us not to use it?There is a contradiction there.Be robot-like , do not think.
Our pastor is involved in working with a homosexual group. After working in the medical field for many years I concluded that this condition is not a moral flaw.Nobody would choose to have such abnormality. It is a disfunction of sorts, an anomaly.According to the church the person should not act on those tendencies.
My husband and some friends agree with my thought that these people are being asked to be lonely all their lives.I think I read somewhere that now they are not wanted in priesthood either. In civil unions there is monogamy, companionship and they stay away from the spread of disease that many partners would bring. You see dawn syndrome couples, blind couples, etc. They get together and share the challenges of their disease. They take care of each other.
I agree with the church stance that they should not be allowed to adopt children.Such children would be confused. And I wish the homosexual couples would not make
public displays of affection, not unlike lepers should be showing around their sores. It is rather disgusting.
When homosexuals are denied the right to companionship, they commit suicide in larger numbers that the normal population.
The church may be asking of them something imposible:to go against their God given nature and the pursue of happiness.

It is sad that you have seen such a warped view of the Church’s teaching.

Investigate the group “enCourage”. You can find it through Courage couragerc.net/

Would you be willing to summarize for this thread the position of the church, since you think my idea of the church’s position is warped.? I say the church requires a life of abstinence and chastity in this cases. For those of us that do not have that anormality, sound pretty.
About 75 ,average, years of going through life ,negating their own needs
I find unrealistic to tell a person you are doomed to be alone all your life , without giving and receiving love in the only way you are built for.And I am not just talking of sex, these people fall in love with each other.Offensive as it may seem to us.
The link you sent me to,mainly sells books and lectures.
Just teach me the church’s position. If I am wrong, I will be actually very happy, for it bothers my conscience to disagree with Catholicism on this topic.I would be grateful.🙂

Yes. This is true, just as heterosexual people who are unmarried (for whatever reason), are unable to morally act on their tendencies.

The argument that homosexuals should marry to avoid disease is similar to the argument that condoms should be used by certain people to prevent disease. The “effectiveness” is irrelevant to the morality of the act. I believe one of the purposes of the group Courage is for homosexuals to help take care of each other.

I believe the Church considers that homosexual couples adopting children is highly imprudent more so than fundamentally immoral.
Some of us wish heterosexual couples would tone down the PDAs. But we need to be careful about using our reactions of disgust as genuine measures of whether something is right or wrong.
When homosexuals are denied the right to companionship, they commit suicide in larger numbers that the normal population.

It is not impossible, although it is, no doubt, extremely difficult. To me, the concept that homosexual tendencies are harder to control than heterosexual tendencies lends credence to the idea that homosexuality is fundamentally disordered. It is never easy to deal with a disorder, sexual or otherwise. No one disputes the fact that homosexuality is a terrible trial to endure, whether one is chaste or not.

All of these arguments have been used repeatedly throughout the centuries; there is absolutely nothing new here. Naturally, such arguments are made on compassionate grounds; after all, who would accept an argument that was merely made for personal interest?

As for God giving us a mind, it is a gift called free will. We all love our children, but it is our natural inclination to do what we can to give them a full life and to provide for them the best possible living conditions. We give them as many opportunities as we are able to provide. Part of that is to give them the best possible moral foundation over years of time. But eventually we let them go because they (hopefully) reach maturity. After that we no longer try to control their life choices, because we accept that they have reached adulthood. We love them enough to let them go off on their own, hoping that they will wisely use what we have given them.

How much more does God Almighty do for us when He gives us the gifts of intellect and free will? He loves us enough that He lets us go, giving us the freedom to accept or reject His ways. What a great statement of His love this is! He could have simply made us robots, but instead He chose to give us free will.

Celibate single persons (homosexual or hetrosexual) can have full and meaningful lives, with many friends and companians.

My dear friends

Homosexual tendancies are a sign of serious mental illness. It is not just a sexual perversion its a mental illness. God has chosen that a father and mother or husband and wife is the natural family for children to grow up in. We should not go against nature. In a world gone mad with nature and being natural in so many ways let’s incluude family life and relationships into the same equation. I don’t blame homosexuals for being victim to the effects of original sin but I’m a bit down on our scientists and doctors for telling them homosexuality is normal thus offering them no real help or therapy and medications that may help.

God bless:thumbsup:🙂

“Homosexual marriage” is simply not possible. Homosexual acts are wrong and disordered.
There is a clear sanction against it in the bible…it’s an abomination (drbo, org).

Jerusalem Bible 1966 edition (with a plethora of notes)

Leviticus 20:13

The man lies who lies with a man in the same way as with a woman: they have done a hateful thing together; they must die, their blood shall be on their own heads.

Yes homosexual marriage is wrong. It is an immoral act that should not be permited. When God made man and women he told them they will be one flesh. Throughout the bible it makes it clear that homosexuality is wrong. You can not call yourselves Catholics if you disagree with the Church.

I know where you are coming from as I tend to harshness on it too. It is wrong on several levels though.

Catholics remain Catholics no matter what. There is always hope they will do better.

It is acceptable to disagree with the Church on discipline issues, such as the celibacy requirement for priests. However, discipline must still be obeyed.

Disagreeing with doctrine and dogma is wrong, worse when done so publicly and worse still when creating an organized campaign to “pressure” the Church. However - this may be just my opinion. In any event, Catholics who fall into this category might not fit the description of “faithful Catholic”. One caveat - even this distinction should not be judged against specific individuals.

I guess all of this is just to say you really should have put the word “faithful” before “Catholic”: “You can not call yourselves faithful Catholics if you disagree with the Church.”

Reading some of the postings above( except for a couple of them) I see with dismay the lack of compassion , desdain, and care, some of my fellow catholic have towards people that could easily be called abnormal .
Because it is related to sex.Had it been a group of people born with one eye instead of two, everybody would show concern .
I see you found entries in the bible on the subject that speak of blood and hate.
I can tell you that Jesus said that of all the virtues, love was the main one .
If they want to have a life companion that sees them at the hospital when they are sick.
and share their lives, let them be.It is better that than committing suicide because everybody looks down on them,(specially Catholics).
As far as living a full life as singles,be heterosexuals or otherwise, that is a difficult choice.I personally truly admire the dedicated and saintly priests and nuns that succeed in living such a lonely life, because psychologists will tell you that hugs and touch and embraces are very important for mental as well as physical health. But these religious people carry within them a torch of love for Christ that overpowers everything else. These are exceptional people.
But, unfortunaly to live an asexual life must not be so easy or we would not have sex scandals among the catholic priests.Or other forms of relieving sexual needs that are also sins.
Let God be the judge of those that carry a stigma for being homosexuals, not you or me.
This is my last entry on behalf of a group with mental or physical disorder,or both, and which I feel is being discriminated.Judge kindly as you would like to be judged.
And just to clarify, nobody in my family is homosexual.I simply want to express my opinion, just as I do about abortion(I’m against it) and other topics.
I just wish my belief coincided with that of my beloved Catholic Church.
