It would seem the new bishop of the Diocese of Springfield - Cape Girardeau is taking the extraordinary form of the mass under his wing by bringing it directly into his cathedral to be celebrated almost daily!
Keep praying, and making respectful requests. It will happen. Our new bishop is very orthodox, and a friend of the extraordinary form (Tridentine). He personally requested that Archbishop Raymond Burke preside over his installation as bishop of Springfield - Cape Girardeau. Which he did. Bishop Vann Johnston quietly thanked him for doing it under his breath while they embraced. I saw it. I heard it. I was there.
That should give you an indication of where our new bishop stands. The very fact that he’s bringing the extraordinary form into the Springfield cathedral, under his wing (so to speak), sends a very powerful message of symbolism. It’s a symbolic message of more than approval - but rather active promotion. This should go a long way to silence the opposition to the extraordinary form in our area. I wouldn’t be surprised if something similar happened on the eastern side of the state in the Cathedral at Cape Girardeau.
Pray - respectfully make requests - then pray some more.
