These days I’m hearing more and more stories about people feuding with their brothers and sisters–not talking to each other, fighting over their inheritance, bickering over the care of aged parents, etc. I used to feel sorry for myself as a kid because I was an only child, but now I’m beginning to think that perhaps I was lucky, if that’s how siblings behave toward each other as adults. Is there anyone out there getting along happily with his or her siblings?

of course I get along with my 5 younger siblings…you just need to ignore a lot…

I not only get along with my older sister, but she’s one of my best friends. We share a bedroom, swap clothes, tell each other everything…I really don’t know what I’d do without her. I thank God for her presence in my life. 😉

I’m at a loss as to what to do…I have two older sisters, one of which slept with my husband (he was my boyfriend at the time, 20 yrs ago and I didn’t find out until 2 years ago). My other sister’s husband molested me when I was 16 yrs old by fondling my breasts in my parents home when I was sleeping in the middle of the night. He also tried something else in a swimming pool but didn’t succeed because my Mother called me out of the pool. For the past 45 years, I cannot stand to be around him (my sister still does not know). He has always criticized me, put me down, made degrading comments about my body and is very dismissive of me. I can no longer stand it and told my sister that I do not want to have him in my life anymore after a recent visit where he was drinking and driving and it scared me to death. Now I’ve lost both sisters and I am grieving. I have forgiven everyone but I still want a relationship with them but it’s just too toxic for me. I feel guilty because I feel maybe I shouldn’t have announced my intentions but sometimes I speak before I think.
