SS as a practical matter

Is it the contention of SS that the 27 books of the NT made their way around to the tens of thousands of new Christians in order to be their rule of faith? If it took each individual a month to read the 27 books before passing them on, how long would it take to reach the one thousandth Christian? What about the 5000 that were added the day of Pentecost? (not to mention that the NT wasn’t written yet)
As a practical matter, it is impossible for the Bible to be the rule of faith on several different levels.

While I agree with your conclusion, I don’t think the logical process by which you reached it is valid. A thousand people could have gathered together in one place and had the Scriptures read to them.

How does Sola Scriptura jibe with Acts 8, 26-31?

26 Then the angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, “Get up and head south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, the desert route.”
27 So he got up and set out. Now there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace, 8 that is, the queen of the Ethiopians, in charge of her entire treasury, who had come to Jerusalem to worship,
28 and was returning home. Seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go and join up with that chariot.”
30 Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”
31 He replied, “How can I, unless someone instructs me?” So he invited Philip to get in and sit with him.

How can I, or anyone else who lives 2,000 years or more after the event, does not speak the language, not understand the customs and practices of the day understand, unless someone instructs me?
