don’t disagree there, but if you consider their stories (as i read and posted in today’s saint) they were 100% for God and the catholic church. the church of england obviously didn’t like that too much.

Although one interesting statistic is that despite there being 6 times the number of Anglicans than Catholics in England, Mass attendence on Sundays by Catholics exceeds Sunday church attendence of Anglicans.

Clarification: British Catholics should regard SS More and Fisher as the Patron saints of England, and let the Church of England stay with St. George.

Why? St George is a Catholic saint too, every bit as much so as Sts Fisher and More, great men though they were.
Let the Anglicans have Sts Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to remind them where they really started.

Not Thomas Beckett?
Canonised before the Anglican schism, so they could have him too.
Born to a Saxon family, not foreign like George/Gregory/Augustine.
A martyr against Royal (relating to modern secularist) attacks on the Church’s rights.
Perhaps Augustine or Gregory would be better. Both very Roman. The Orthodox wouldn’t have a problem with them either.
