I am sorry to say that I have been under the impression that most SSPX’s aren’t allowed to read very much except what is approved by that Society.

Using computers is discouraged, watching tv is discouraged. so how is anyone to find out anything that might be “against” society. They have web pages on top of web pages, and their book publishing company is very biased. I am sorry for all these people. AND I am sorry that they will not be able to read the truth. And most of what I’ve read by Mr. Davies is definitely biased.

He is in the book selling business, and this definitely sells books…

But what really, does he say “for” the Vatican???

The archbishop is EXCOMMUNICATED, whether anyone wants to believe it or not. He rebelled against the Vatican. There WAS NO
Necessity" (by his own words)…The Pope has TRIED to get the society BACK into the fold, but their “leaders” are refusing any of his attempts. It is NOT the Pope keeping you all away. What is the hold up now? You have what you want…🤷

I suggest you all spend your time on the computer trying to LEARN the truth of what has happened, not just by “society” based propaganda. This is soooooo Cultist!!!

Their books, no computer, no tv, no “associations” with anyone NOT in the society, (incidently even parents/family).
Even the ladies in the SLDS believe that they are “HAPPY”'HAPPY"“HAPPY” You all have got to wake up and see what is happening…😦

Just FYI: Mr. Davies passed away a couple of years ago, may he rest in everlasting peace.

Now that this thread has gotten totally off the original topic. . .

I think its constructive to look at Canon Law and try to determine the validity of certain arguments. However, it’s not constructive to make broad sweeping statements about people of whom you have only a glancing and second-hand knowledge. This is especially true when you state they will never be able to see any truth, basically because they don’t agree with you, and you then go on to blast their “bias” while clearly and convincingly revealing your own.

I think we can all agree that the status of the SSPX is not settled and won’t be in the near future. At this time the evidence seems pretty strong against them, but St. Joan of Arc was found guilty of heresy (twice) at one point in time and was later vindicated and I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility that one day SSPX could be vindicated.

In any event, I hope that we can all remain charitable on these boards so that people can get meaningful information and advice as opposed to agendas.

The only SSPX Church I have ever been to does require women to wear head coverings. They keep a box of extras in the foyer of the church and women are expected to cover their head as soon as they enter the Church.
Here is a plaque with dress requirements from the SSPX church in Calgary, Alberta:

Pretty sad they even have to have a sign like that. When I was a kid, Catholic women all covered their heads when they went to church. I used to see them walking past my house, with a lace veil in their hands and a prayerbook (probably a missal.) The ones without a lace veil in their hands wore hats.

There is an Orthodox synagogue in my city that had to post a sign that picture-taking is not allowed on Shabbos…it seems some nonreligious/ignorant Jews were showing up for bar mitzvahs and taking pictures!!
