Personally, I have no problem with your position of disagreement with the SSPX. When you equate them with mind-controlling cults, however, I feel bound to object.Everyone have a blest evening. I will pray and offer my Mass for this reunion to occur, although I believe personalities have already entered the equation. I regret that some of you take my disagreement so personal and feel the need to respond as such.

Pnewton’s words speak for themself.Yet he didn’t
No rush to judgement, please.
Go back to Post 256. What pnewton said was this:
“I believe what we are seeing is introduction of control mechanisms for the faithful. With powerful central leadership that runs counter-culture and takes pride this (hence the belief they are “The Remnant”), all that remained was for control mechanisms to come into place to become a cult. I believe we may be seeing this as the group firms their resolve to withstand the Holy Father.”
You accuse him of saying something he never said.
The bolded part says we are, in his opinion, seeing control mechanisms for the faithful…it is well implied despite the “all that remained…” safety phrase, by the power of suggestion he is saying “cult”, you just can’t wriggle out of that one, try as you may.Yet he didn’t

I was going to post that this was not the impression that I got from reading the letter he wrote to the bishops, On the Collaboration of Men and Women (July 2004).If you asked Pope Benedict if it is better for women to have children and work outside the home or to have children and stay at home with them I am willing to bet he would say stay at home with the children
You might ask yourself what this place is doing to your ability to remain in peace, too. This is yet another attack amongst many on the SSPX…no charity here, no Catholic kindness, because saying these things does great harm.
Thanks, I will keep you in my prayers…it doesn’t frustrate me however, not at all…I don’t mind pointing out the unjust behavior towards the SSPX…someone has to do it.You might ask yourself what this place is doing to your ability to remain in peace, too.
I don’t mean that as a criticism, but just that “You can’t teach a pig to sing. You just frustrate yourself and annoy the pig.” There are a lot of days where this place gets you pretty frustrated, that’s all.
I have heard it said that one of the reasons for a monasteries to impose so much silence in their days is that it serves to keep the peace between brothers with very different opinions.
There might be something to that.
Just a thought. Peace be to you. If I can muster the self-control, I won’t be back. Keep me in your prayers
How is it different? How about the fact that it’s true? How is a priest declaring that our Church is the only path to Salvation DIFFERENT than what other preachers preach. What is there in such preaching that would cause a listener to choose Catholicism over another denomination (or non-denomination)?
Ever heard of a plenary indulgence? It’s something like that. And it’s the status of the current bishops that’s at stake here.I will say it once again. The Archbishop was excommunicated because of his DISOBEDIENCE in ordaining bishops without a papal mandate. The controversy over the status of the sspx is irrelevant. Even if their status was regularized today it doesn’t change the fact that he ignored a papal warning from Pope John Paul II himself stating that if he proceeded he would incur the penalty of excommunication and he died without seeking the pardon of the Pope, as mandated by Canon Law.
If (and that’s a BIG if) Pope Benedict were to remove the excommunication, it would be the result of his generosity in the matter. Canon Law is on the side of the Pope. The Vatican has never “recognized” that the excommunications were not valid.
This is quite an accusation against a recognized Vatican spokesman who was put in charge of the Ecclesia Dei Commission by two Popes in fact. You are wrong because Cardinal Hoyes is wrong.
I understand (I think I read it on Fr. Z’s blog) that Vatican is considering reinstating the 3-hr fast rule on everyone.no eating for 3 hours previous to Holy Communion (the rule is 1hr)
That’s off-topic, as well as inaccurate.I understand (I think I read it on Fr. Z’s blog) that Vatican is considering reinstating the 3-hr fast rule on everyone.
How do you know it’s inaccurate? And why the weird font? What kind of statement are you making? That’s off-topic, as well as inaccurate.
It’s who he is. He has always posted that way.And why the weird font? What kind of statement are you making?

Is this “Fr. Z” the Father Zullsdorft ( probably not spelling it right) that leads the retreats in Connecticut? the St. Francis ones?I understand (I think I read it on Fr. Z’s blog) that Vatican is considering reinstating the 3-hr fast rule on everyone.
Do you realize that this is the liberal’s same excuse for all the bad that they do?Will Catholic charity ever show itself on this forum?
