A reasonable request, as long as he is accepting of the answer, or at least willing to dialogue from a position of acceptance. It is good to have the SSPX issue resolved.

I think you meant it will be good to have the SSPX issue resolved and it is good that resolution has taken a step forward.

rumor has it that B16 celebrates the tridentine mass privately. i think it’s apparent that VII was mostly a disaster for the church. it will take years for it to come back on course. remember that 52% of catholics voted for obama and his baby killing agenda.

between the liturgical deformation and the destruction of catholic culture in the west, sspx is a needed voice in our church to point out that tradition is of vast importance.

No, I meant what I said. You and others may not agree, but the schism started with the excommunications and those have now been lifted. The leaders, the only ones formally excommunicated are now within the fold of the Church. While their future may be unknown, the big issue, that of in the Church or out, has been resolved. Everything else is details to my way of thinking.

Not exactly. The schism started with the schismatic act.

The shaky relationship began in 1975 when Paul VI attempted to dissolve the order. One could use the argument that the priestly suspensions began at that time too and today’s ruling takes us back to that point in time. So the big thing now is to establish territories and lift the suspensions. It’s just a formality but I hope it doesn’t take too long. I doubt if the doctrinal differences (if any) would present any further barriers.

It’s SO good to see that less than 18 hours since the excommunication was lifted, here we are STILL poking each other in the eye over perceived faults and issues and what ifs. God Forgive Us… Let this begin to play out a bit and give people a little room…

It seems that both sides(or at least the decision makers for those sides) are of a mind to come to a happy conclusion to this ugly chapter in the history of the Church.

Personally, I’m happy and this is a day of rejoicing! For what each party had lost has been found.

Yes, there are issues to be hammered out. I pray this happens quickly for the benefit of each group and the whole. We need each other more than ever. There is bitterness and anger( and deservedly so) on each side. Let us pray that this will not become a stumbling block to any. Let us also purpose ourselves not to create a new or even greater stumbling block regardless of our hurts of the past.

I was wondering the same thing. I try to look to the hope and rejoice, as in the parable of the lost sheep/coin and get criticized and words put in my mouth. Catholics should be unified today on this decision of the Holy Father and not worry about which “side” one is on.

How about some encouragement for those who this will most directly affect?
