Br,

Feel free to call me Joe, although Giuseppe is the Third Order name I took in honor of the great saint who bears that name, as well as the given name of a sainted Pope.
This is an aside. I didn’t kow that Third Order members got to select their names. I just learned something. We don’t get to select our names. They are given to us by the novice master or by the Guardian. We find out at investiture. I was born Michael Abram. Was named Jason Richard at investiture.

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂

Yes, we do choose our Third Order names. I was born Vincent Anthony and took Giuseppe as my professed name.

My grandmother and her mother were Third Order Carmelites and I’m pretty certain they also chose their professed names.

It came from the author. Bishop Fellay didn’t make a statement to that effect. He did relate that the Pope is under enormous anti-tradition pressure from several members of the episcopacy. He related, for instance, that an Italian Bishop remarked that he would resign if the Pope celebrated the Extraordinary Form in public and he wouldn’t be alone. While he confided that the SSPX certainly has its supporters in both the episcopacy, the college of Cardinals, and the Curia, he did quip that the SSPX was still very “hot” and anyone (in the hierarchy) who give the impression of “getting close” to the Society risks “getting burned”.
Wow. It’s sad to hear these kinds of things coming from the hierarchy. I can’t even imagine the difficult position the Holy Father is in. No wonder why Our Lady said that he will have much to suffer.

The articles clearly show there is one “official” treatment of the Society and another “private” treatment of the Society.

The Society being “regularized” for two weeks around Easter for the ordinations was shocking indeed.

Also Rome’s recognition of Society confessions goes to show that the “official” impression given that they are invalid except for ignorance, through Msgr. Perl’s private letter, is not actually the case.

Big news indeed!

Generally, he felt the discussions were “bearing fruit” but not to expect any imminent and significant announcements. I’m sure everyone understands the confidentiality that all parties agreed to be bound by so I didn’t expect a more detailed update than this.

So, by these remarks, H.E. was not making a case for the SSPX enjoying a “stealth” regularity. Rather, he was remarking on how difficult and complex the situation is.

I see it as just more encouragement for more prayer!
Now that I understand. However, I did not get that from the article, and definitely it seems to be a contradiction to this thread title. I guess that is how rumors go. Well, let us continue to pray for the sucessful conclussion to these talks. I am sure that good news will be released through official sources as soon as reasonable.

Oh, and thank you for your post. It was one of the best I have seen on this thread.
