While I am not an SSPX parishoner, I occasionally visit their website, and have been following the news relating to their status with the Church. In doing so, one thing I found to be very striking, is the success of their Rosary crusades. The first was for greater access to the Traditional Latin Mass, then we got the Motu Proprio. The second was for the lifting of the excommunications, which also occurred. Their third, though, is a little bit more ambitious - the consecration of Russia - since most of the Church leadership insists JPII’s consecration of the whole World was sufficient, and it would certainly complicate relations with the Orthodox.

I’m sure, especially on this forum, others have noticed this as well. Does anyone think the Crusade for the specific consecration of Russia will also be successful?

Yes I believe Pope Benedict will consecrate Russia… because every couple of years since fatima a pope has consecrated either the world or russia to the Immaculate Heart… JohnPaul II was just one of those…

The reason why some believe that the consecration hasn’t been completed is because in those occasions Russia was not the only one consecrated or when it was it wasn’t in union with all the bishops of the world…

JPII consecrated Russia. Also, Lucia Santos said that this was received in heaven, and that by wearing the Brown Scapular we can attest to the consecration. So I don’t know why the SSPX doesn’t accept this one. I believe they said that if you think that JPII consecrated Russia, that you should still pray the rosary for guidance to the Holy Father.

If I didn’t think it was going to be a success I wouldn’t participate in it. My target is to have said 3000 Rosaries by the time the Crusade is done.

Which brings me to a question; some time ago a Poster here had an address where a person could download a form to talley their Rosaries. Would anyone remember that address?

Cheers

Is the SSPX alone in doubting whether the consecrations have been made? It would be easier to think that Russia had been properly consecrated if the promises of world peace and the conversion of Russia had followed. In any event, I think there are many non-SSPX Catholics who share the desire of the Society that the Holy Father would “try it again”, if that is a permissible expression under the circumstances.

Oh, and yes, I still have hope in all the blessings that were promised by Our Lady of Fatima when, not if, Russia was consecrated to her Immaculate Heart. She told Sister Lucy that it would happen, but it would be late. So far, everything seems on schedule. I am turning in my tallies!

Like I said, Lucia Santos said it was received in heaven. And after JPII consecrated Russia, the wall of Berlin fell, as well as the Soviet Union some time later. I don’t think that world peace will just be all of a sudden, as if tomorrow every war would stop. However, I think we are coming closer to world peace, and I think that is what the BVM meant. Although let me make it clear that I am not the one to interpret visions. But that is my opinion.

I think a more appropriate thing would be to pray for the consecration of the US to Our Lady of America. We’re one of the largest exporters of secular relativism to the world. Russia is already returning to the Orthodox faith, which has a great reverence for the Theotokos. And they were also never pronounced as heretics.

God bless.

But JPII consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart… why is his consecration accepted and not the earlier popes like PiusXII in 1942 he consecrated the world to the Immaculate heart IN UNION WITH ALL THE BISHOPS OF THE WORLD… so how is JPII accepted without the bishops then with the bishops…

That’s a good point. Well, I pray the rosary anyways. So, let’s see what happens.

wow, good for you. That is a noble target. I only set mine at 365.

Thanks to Sancte Joseph, Cider and Rory,

Now I can convert my old note pad to a “real” tally sheet. Exactly what I was looking for.
