upholdingtradition.com/ has been hosting by me for many years, I didn’t know of the distinction between it and the post VII church as I do now, and to be honest, I didn’t even read through most of it all of those years.

I’m at a dilemma here. I believe that the church is experiencing growing pains, but am in no way against the VII changes, but I also do not want to lose a priest friend in this process, I also see there is plenty there that has a great deal of merit, but at the same time, a great deal that’s entirely against VII and not in line with our Pope, ie. that church is ex communicated for a reason.

Recently my hosting company has messed up ftp, which has transferring files onto the server a royal pain, thus they are now on hold from being able to do so and I’m at a loss now as what to do about the situation. Do I keep them on board, knowing full well, some if not much of what they stand for is against the modern church, knowing in that area, it’s creating a division within it, or do I leave it, knowing full well it’s also there pointing towards tradition and know in their hearts, they are genuine with their beliefs and fervently worship our Lord including doing extensive missionary work.

I do not want to stand in their way, but it’s troubling me here and I feel my contributions by hosting something that has some not too nice things to say about the Pope, in spite of the rest, is a really bad thing, dividing between helping a people’s in an area they seem to need. I also am seeing how the church has been extending the olive branch with them, in an attempt to reintegrate back into the church, so all of these elements if things go as the Pope plans, will eventually fade away into non existence.

At the same time, my business and my life is on shaky ground, I can use all of the prayer warriors I can have on hand to help out with them, for me to tell them to find another host is going to eliminate that, I also will be losing a very long term friend as well. I feel like I’m damned if I do, damned if I don’t, and being a layman of the faith, it’s a tough decision for this one man to make on his own.

Any (name removed by moderator)ut or advice would be greatly appreciated, I need to make a decision soon, I hate having them up in limbo, I hate not knowing if I am doing a good thing keeping them hosted, or am I doing a bad thing keeping them hosted. There is no money at stake here, I have never charged them a dime, just in case anybody was wondering about that.

Let’s consider the outcomes of each option.

Continue to host: Keep your friends. Keep your prayers. Host stuff you feel is wrong and may be damaging that which you believe is right.

Discontinue hosting: Lose your priest friend. Lose some prayers for yourself. You aren’t hosting something you believe to be wrong, and therefore you won’t be damaging what you consider to be truth.

You also have to consider that even if you stop hosting them, they can just as easily find someone else. It’s not like there is a scarcity of hosts. They aren’t dependent on you.

If you discontinue hosting them, you only lose. You lose friends, you lose prayers. You can’t even gain anything by preventing them from posting anti-Pope stuff - they will just do it somewhere else.

If you continue hosting them, you lose nothing. You also keep a friend to whom you can witness.

So I say keep hosting.

Sorry, not interested in a non believers opinion on the matter.

I say don’t host it.

Reason:
Because you will be allowing access for someone to publicly display information that is against what the Church teaches. Yes, they might go some where else to host it. But that is never a reason to offer the service yourself. Jesus never said “Allow them to sin in your home because they are just going to go some where else and sin anyways.” Yes you may lose friends from it. Sometimes that happens. But you may also gain a few more friends for standing up for what you believe in. I can’t ever picture Jesus allowing sin to be acceptable in order for him to keep a few extra friends.

It will be a good way for you to set an example of what is right.

It’s too multi fasceted for you to understand the question here, nothing personal.

I also posted a duplicate in the Ask an Apologist section, thank you for your (name removed by moderator)ut so far.

Ok, got an answer from them, going to follow through on it, I’ve been talking to more people and thinking on this one on my own here. The contact is irritated I came here to discuss this, so am going to humbly request the moderators terminate this thread.

Well, guess the mods have better things to do then police this thread, so I opted to replace the index page with the letter of Jude, which means the reference is now mute.
