As did Quebec dioceses. In any event, this is a time to be proactive, not reactive. The number of infections grows exponentially. So if you react to yesterday’s numbers, they will have grown exponentially each day you delay. Bishops who didn’t wait for the government to react were being smart.

Actually, many bishops started with dispensing the faithful. Our bishop started with that, and 180 people showed up at our local parish, according to the pastor. So suspending Masses became the best way to ensure people stayed home.

I think you attributed to me what was actually said by (name removed by moderator). No bad, sometimes the quoting system can be a little awkward, just wanted to set the record straight.
 
No; a simple statement that the bishop has authority and the SSPX priests do not would have been sufficient. And accurate.
 
The bishop does have authority over all the faithful in his diocese. While he may not have authority over members of the SSPX, that only applies to priests and religious-the laity are not members.

The SSPX should be making that clear to those who attend Mass at their parishes. And no, a bishop suspending Masses for the good of the faithful does not constitute circumstances of supplied jurisdiction.
