St Alphonsus Doctor of the Church

1. By St. Alphonsus Maria being a doctor of the church for moral theology, does that mean that he’s infallible in that area?
2. Also, I heard somewhere that he is infallible in teaching about confession, or something like that, can someone explain further

I believe there was a time in which the Church, in whatever official capacity, approved the writings of St. Alphonsus to be used by confessors to advise their penitents. I’m not sure if that was ever abrogated.

Ordinarily, only the Pope is infallible, and then only when he means to be infallible.

The only time a bishop is infallible is if he is participating in a Dogmatic Council with his brother bishops and the Pope, or if he teaches a Dogmatic Teaching to his flock that has been already Infallibly Defined.
