This great Saint never failed me! Many times I was searching for the things I want to use then I had hard times finding them, I tried to invoke his intercession. So what happened? I immediately (or slightly immediate)found the things I was looking for. We must invoke his name and seek his intercession when we are having hard times to find things.

St Anthony, St Anthony,
Please come ‘round.
Something’s lost,
And can’t be found.

What if - I lost my health or/and I lost my mind?..
That would be Saint Dymphna.

I often think it’s a shame that we only think of St Anthony of Padua in terms of finding things, he was such a great saint by all accounts.

The Sermons ( Sermones ) are the Saint’s great work of literature and theology, which earned him the title of Doctor of the Church.
We can consider it as a treaty of sacred doctrine under the form of a collection of sermons , by which the Saint aims to explain all of Scripture.

Anthony wrote the Sermons with the specific purpose of providing his brethren with a preaching tool. The topics considered are generally topics of faith and morals. The Saint offers to preachers the tools for preaching: how to teach the faithful the doctrine of the Gospel, how to value the sacraments, especially those regarding penance and the Eucharist.
The Sermons were written in Medieval Latin, that is, Low Latin, however Anthony’s language has a certain elegance. These learned sermons abound with quotations from the Scriptures (more than six thousand), and often avail themselves with quotations from the Fathers, theologians, philosophers and pagan poets; they often cite the names of experts in the natural sciences, especially Aristotle and Solino

The 13th century marked a turning point in the economic history of Europe. Previous to this time, people generally depended upon subsistence farming to meet their needs. Each farm and each village were relatively autonomous, for trade was difficult and dangerous. Cities were small and highly dependent upon their immediate environs for the necessities of life.

The great pilgrimages of the late Middle Ages and the Crusades changed this. Slowly people began to trade with more distant lands, and to depend upon goods brought from outside of their world. As trade developed, the cities grew. Simple barter was insufficient, and a money economy developed.

Along with trade and money, there was also a growth of unscrupulous business practices, e.g. usury (the lending of money at exorbitant rates of interest), debtors’ prisons, etc. Anthony, like the other friars, preached a detachment from the goods of this world. They condemned the exploitative business practices of their day, especially usury.

Once Anthony preached at the funeral of a money lender. He told his listeners that they should not bury his body in consecrated ground, for his soul was already suffering the torments of hell. He said that the man’s heart was no longer in his body, but that the Gospel had been fulfilled, “For where your treasure is, there will be your heart (Mt 6,21; Lk 12,34). They opened up the man’s side and found that his heart was missing, but they found it when they opened up his treasure chest.
