Hi All,

I’m doing a theology essay on St Augustine. I just wanted your opinion on this text.Would you say this is aimed at Arianism? I’m pretty sure the answer is yes but it would be good if anyone can validate this for me so I don’t end up writing a bunch of nonsense!

Thanks!

I’m not an expert but yes; St Augustine seems to have had non-Trinitarians, such as Arians, in mind when he wrote in paragraph 5 against those “who say that the Son is less than the Father, of less authority, of less majesty, of less possibility.” However, the main theme seems to be: Because the Father and the Son (and the Holy Spirit) are consubstantial, their works are inseparable.
