In Book Two of Christian In struction (De doctrina Christiana), chapter 39, St. Augustine makes the following statement.
'…I believe the same could be done now, if there were someone capable who could be induced to devote a truly beneficial service to the advantage of his brethren. He could classify whatever unfamiliar places, animals, plants, trees, stones, metals, or other objects to which Scripture alludes. Then, after he has arrranged them by classes, he should write down his explanations."
Has this be done?
If so, where can I find it?
Thanks!
Also in Book Two, he says some before him have explained all the names of people in the Old Testament. I looked to find the passage, but I do not have enough time.
Thanks!
