A lot of y’all may have noticed that scapulars often have free St. Benedict’s medals attached to them. Does anyone know if these medals were given the special St. Benedict’s exorcism blessing (or whatever it’s called)? I know that you can’t sell blessed items, but since the medals come free with the scapulars, and since it’s hard to find priests with faculties to give that particular blessing, I was wondering about it, especially since my scapular is one of those with a St. Benedict’s medal attached.

Any priest can give the blessing, as long as they follow the book of blessing for the Benedictian medal. All priest have this book, but you might have to find it for them.

Call the company to see if they give away the medal with the Benedictian blessing.

That’s not exactly correct. You can sell an object that happens to be blessed, otherwise persons who have their homes or cars blessed would never be able to sell them. What you can not do is charge more than that object’s intrinsic value without the blessing. So a scapular vendor can sell a scapular with a blessed medal as long as the price is not more than they would charge for a scapular with an unblessed medal.
