I just finished watching The Song of Bernadette. Since coming back to the Church about five years ago I’ve been fascinated by Marian apparitions. For some reason I’ve been drawn to Our Lady of Lourdes the most. So I started doing a search on St. Bernadette to see if I could find something out about her that would connect me to her. And right off the bat I found our connection, we share the same birth date. Anyway, I thought I would share this little tidbit.

Saint Bernadette, pray for us!

They say you don’t choose a saint, the saint chooses you. It sounds like dear Saint Bernadette is reaching out to you. Perhaps you should pray to her.

Been to Lourdes about 5 times now. Love the place.

Have you visired OP?

I’m going to start doing that today.

No, I haven’t. I’ve never been to Europe. I might be going in the summer of '19 with my son’s school. Unfortunately Lourdes is not on the agenda.

I believe there is a laity devotional of St. Bernadette to Our Lady of Lourdes. You could look into it by asking your local diocese or local priest? I have met some members in my travels, while visiting prayer groups that pray the daily liturgy of hours.

I love that film.

Peace be with you

Our Lady of Lourdes has been a long time favorite of my wife and me. My MIL in named Lourdes and her birthday is February 11th. It was after her passing that I began to get the distinct impression that I was supposed to be Catholic.

We made our pilgrimage in December of 2014. Fantastic place.

I saw this film on Lourdes when we got back. Two things of note: We celebrated Fr. Brian’s (interviewed in the film) 50th jubilee mass with just a handful of pilgrims and locals and the small white bird hawking insects from the towers is a White Wagtail. I saw those at Lourdes too.

Thank you for sharing this video. It was very powerful and moving.

Wow, Holy Smokes!! I didn’t know a person could live to be 174 years old. That’s awesome. Congratulations. 🙂

Sister Marie Bernard is one of a kind. I love her. Wise, humble, down to earth, and yet funny as … (oops, I can’t use that word here and Bernadette wouldn’t like it, hehe)

She had / has an excellent sense of humor. I wish I had made notes of all her funny things she would say and do.

Oh yes, “I am the Immaculate Conception” proved to be a sign and wonder from heaven that followed and confirmed the Pope’s declaration of the “Immaculate Conception”. Mark 16:20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

Ven. Fulton Sheen has a great video on a pilgrimage he took to Lourdes. I can’t seem to be able to find it. Maybe somebody can help.

A great film but an even better read…

The Song of Bernadette by Franz Werfel
I was going to buy this on my Kindle but the only versions I could find were in German. I’m going to go to my local Catholic bookstore to see if I can find an English translation.
