In the past year and a half, I have been to Europe three times: sacred shrines, Papal audience 9/18. This has been a journey to earn Plenary Indulgence for my daughter. Now, I have a question and I will certainly NOT “google” any response to it:

At Nevers, I SAW with my own eyes the incorrupt body of St. Bernadatte Soubirous. My understanding is that “wax” was placed over her face for some reason but I can tell you without hesitation: She is beautiful, she is whole, I couldn’t TOUCH her, she is behind glass. I have begun to realize she is my “sister in Christ” because I saw the Blessed Mother when I was dying from pneumonia at age five (St. Bernadette had lifelong lung problems, which ultimately caused her death).

Now, I saw this with my own eyes. And I consider at absolute validation. Is there any indication, known to any of you, that this is somehow “created” by people, and not a real intention of God?

I also saw St Bernadette at Nevers, France. She is beautiful.

The wax is a coating they put on her skin because it began to dry out and flake, after they had exhumed her body for the 3rd and final time.

Not true. According to EWTN, her face was beginning to darken and her nose was shriveling up.

Do you believe in coincidences?

Today’s Psalm at mass was PS 16-1 to 11, we hear:
R/ (11a) Lord, you will show us the path of life.
or:
R/ Alleluia.
Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge;
I say to the LORD, “My Lord are you.”
O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup,
you it is who hold fast my lot.
R/ Lord, you will show us the path of life.
or:
R/ Alleluia.
I bless the LORD who counsels me;
even in the night my heart exhorts me.
I set the LORD ever before me;
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
R/ Lord, you will show us the path of life.
or:
R/ Alleluia.
Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices,
my body, too, abides in confidence;
because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld,
nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption.
R/ Lord, you will show us the path of life.
or:
R/ Alleluia.
You will show me the path to life,
abounding joy in your presence,
the delights at your right hand forever.
R/ Lord, you will show us the path of life.
or:
R/ Alleluia.
When I heard it, my mind was immediately called to remember all the incorruptibles down through the ages.
And now I find this thread. More food for thought…

No I do not believe in coincidences since literally hundreds of times (at least!) things have happened to me that, if they were coincidences, broke every Law of Nature known to us.

I notice one of the responders said her skin was darkening and her nose withering…I think it would take more than wax to stop that process. She is perfect. She is so perfect that one wonders if she is really perfect or if something else has been done to keep her that way, or make her appear that way. In other words: if this is real, then this alone is proof of many things and we should have no doubt. If it is not, then we can’t believe a thing. That’s why I said in my original post I would not “google” because you know fully well the naysayers are out there. Thanks for your response.

Well I’m going by what they said at Nevers.

I also read EWTN and what I’ve posted isn’t in conflict.

I haven’t investigated EWTN at all but I concur with you regarding what was told me (and apparently you, as well) at Nevers. So the question remains: Is it true? Or is it not true? Has she actually remained incorrupt and is as beautiful as any young woman could be in life; or has “something” (we know not what nor can we conjecture) been “done” to her body to make it “appear” as such? This is the conundrum. Quite a matter of faith, I think. So perhaps we would do best to leave it at that. I do not have to put my fingers into Jesus’ hands or into His side to know he died, and to know He rose. N’est-ce pas?

Well, I’ve seen the photos of when they exhumed her body and she was beautifully preserved.

I do know that she is not 100% incorrupt that part of her body did decay.

Her face and hands are merely covered with a coating of wax.

Some try to say it’s a wax mask, but this isn’t the case. The wax coating is very thin and transparent.

She’s dressed of course from head to foot but there does appear to have been some “work” done on her body itself. Yes, the wax is thin, it is not makeup, it is not a mask, I got very close and took a very long look. I would like to see those photos you spoke of, do you happen to remember the site? Thank you.

You may be able to find them at a website.

I saw them at Nevers, and I believe they’re also in the book, “St Bernadette Soubirous,”
by Francois Trochu. I’ll have to check the book to see. Fr Trochu did a very in depth amount of research in the book, and leaves no stone unturned.

With all due respect, if you’ve been to Europe 3 times in 1 year, I don’t think that your username fits. 😃
