In 1998 or 9, a friend brought me to her Church for this. "It can’t hurt!, she said.
My vocal cords had been paralyzed for five months and for a flukey reason. It was thought to be permanent. For me this was a :bigyikes: For many people around me, it was kinda liked it like :dancing:
I then went on a three day train trip.
On day 2 of the trip, guess what?
😃

Joe as a child, was scheduled to get his tonsils out.
Went for the blessing on St. Blaise day.
Next visit to the Doctor? No inflammation. Surgery cancelled.
Never got them removed.
😃

I am hoping to co-ordinate with my daughter and bring my grandson!:angel1:

I said the blessing over the priest’s throat.

I was near the end of the line. The priest blessed my throat and said, “Stay here.” He finished blessing the last few people, handed me the candles, smiled and said, “My turn!”

I did what I was told and read what was on the card. Not really sure if it was kosher but was pretty cool.

That is pretty cool and thanks to everyone for the reminder. Tomorrow is a great day to go to daily mass but isn’t everyday!

Maybe it is an archdiocesean thing but we did the blessing and celebrated the feast on Sunday.

I came in today with a sore throat, forgetting it was St. Blaise’s day. 7th period I’m going to head down to the chapel and get me some blessings!

Does anyone know whether the blessing for throats is only valid on the actual feast day? Can it be deferred to the Sunday before or after so the congregation may receive it? My pastor did not bless us, saying it would be done on Sunday.

Many places offer it on the Sunday prior.
It’s pretty common. A blessing is a blessing, I would hope. 😉
