A few years ago I chose the name “Cyrus” as my confirmation name. Since then I have discovered that there is a St. Cyrus of Alexandria, who was a healer, ascetic, and martyr during the persecution of Diocletian. I want to learn more about him, but this is the only source of information that I have catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=617&wf=rsscol. Does anyone know about this saint or where I can read more about him or find translations of original documents?

Here’s the Catholic Encyclopedia article: newadvent.org/cathen/04597b.htm.

My text copy also has the bibliography:

Sophronius, Laudes in SS. Cyrum et Joannem in Migne, P. G., LXXXVII, 3370-3876 (the other two lives, 3677-3696, are not of Sophronius): see also Bardenhewer, Patrol. (It. tr., Rome, 1903), III, 41; Acta SS., Jan., II, 1081 sq.; Petrus Parthenopensis,SS.Cyri et Joannia passio in Spicilegium Romanum (Rome, 1840), IV, 268-280: Analecta Bollandiana (Brussels, 1889), VIII, 95-96: Deubner, De incubalione capita quattuor (Leipzig, 1900); cf. Analecta Bollandiana (1901), xx, 324 sq.; (1906) xxv, 233, 40; Revue de l’Orient chrét. (Paris, 1902) 375 sqq.

Hope this helps. God bless.

Those are all latin texts. I wonder how I could get my hands on that first one from Sophronius (the encomium?).

I now have a copy of it in Greek and French, but I need a translator. Any translators on this forum? p.s. (I dunno if it would be against copyright regulations to scan and send pages)

bing.com/translator/

This really ought to help you out. Correct what it spits out for syntax. Translation is very time-consuming work, so you’re not likely to get the help of a professional translator for much unless you are willing to pay.

God bless.

That could work, I’m gonna search around for translators first though.
