where can I find more information about him?
was his teacher a Saint as well?

His teacher was St John (Don) Bosco, who founded schools for boys/young men at a time when employment was difficult to get and many boys were homeless and hungry. Don Bosco taught regular subjects like math and reading, but also taught the boys trades like printing. He founded an order dedicated to another Saint, St.Francis de Sales, who was also a teacher. The order is called the Salesians.

Dominic was a young boy who had heard good things about Don Bosco and left his family to join the school (his parents were poor, but not destitute). He died at a very young age (12 or so), but already showed great signs of holiness and had been an example to even the older teenage boys at the school.

St. Don Bosco’s writings are available and there are many books about both of them. The Catholic Encyclopedia online will have a more complete bio of each.
