Hi there,
So I live next to the biggest Irish traveller gypsy camps in the USA. One thing that struck me unusual was the almost obsessive veneration of St. Expedite. I’ve read some information online and asked the Irish travellers themselves, but no one seems to be able to answer in specifics the origin and story of the saint. At best I figured the saint was originated from some obscure miss-packaging accident. So my question is St. Expedite simply a folk saint or does the church actually acknowledge him.

thanks!

Having looked on the internet, I am not sure. I found a link to a previous Thread which may help forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=542994 and also a link to a St Expedite website but I am not posting that because I have doubts about the purpose of the site. Personally, I am going to steer clear, mainly because the sites I visited are designed to lead people away from God and into territory that Christians need to avoid.

God bless you

Yeah I done figured that. It just kinda struck me a little odd that the parish priest seemed a little indifferent with the practices, but as far as the rest the population goes the Travellers are unique.
Thanks!
