Sorry but i stopped reading when you said I must be a beginner in faith. Pretty insulting.
What was so insulting about what I said. You found the book depressing. How can this book be depressing when it is full of hope and mercy? There was no insult intended. I do think when people do not understand a book as easily as the Divine Mercy Diary it is usually because they are not informed on the faith as this book recommends us to be in. I am sorry you feel this way. If you had read the rest of my post it would have helped you if you had an opened heart and mind. Think clearly when people offer you some advice. It is never intended to be insulting. I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian who believes the messages of Jesus given to St. Maria Faustina is a reflection of what Eastern Christianity is about. The Catholic Church is not as engaged into the mercy of God as is the Eastern Churches. Whenever one reads the Diary the Lord is offering an incredible insights into His Divine Mercy which surprisingly is found more within Eastern Christianity. I found Western Christianity especially the approach of Catholic Christianity in the beginning of my life as giving me more depression until I found the right answers to my life within the message of Eastern Christianity. I was very depressed growing up within the Church of Rome. It was Eastern Christianity that had given me more this vital message of mercy that I needed to know. In fact the Diary was a reflection of that experience which Eastern Christianity can give to you. The Catholic Church can discover this mercy once she discover what Eastern Christianity can be for her in the same light which Jesus had given for us in the writings of St. Maria Faustina.

St. Faustina is indeed great. I love her, but not everyone is going to understand her.
You are correct. I think that’s why we are given that incredible image of Divine Mercy which everyone in their own way can understand.

Maybe you should read the book instead of the audiobook. Do you have the book? It might be the voice of the speaker that makes it depressing. As far as the book goes, it is not depressing at all:blush:

If you had read the rest of my post it would have helped you if you had an opened heart and mind. .
stopped here again after being insulted again. lol maybe you shouldn’t be so assuming.
carry on if you wish but I’m not going to take advice from someone whom calls my level of faith, understanding, and openess into question.

I just started reading this book and feel depressed by it, as well. And confused. I have a question about one of the passages: 44. Can anyone help me understand this? I have been stuck on it for a few days now and can’t seem to get it fully. I mean, I know what it is saying obviously but the anecdote is confusing me. I don’t know how to explain why it is, though…

“One day Jesus said to me, I am going to leave this house… because there are things here which displease Me. And the Host came out of the tabernacle and came to rest in my hands and I, with joy, places it back in the tabernacle. This was repeated a second time, and I did the same things. Despite this, it happened a third time, but the Host was transformed into the living Lord Jesus, who said to me, I will stay here no longer! At this, a powerful love for Jesus rose up in my soul, I answered “And I, I will not let You leave this house, Jesus!” And again Jesus disappeared while the Host remained in my hands. Once again I put it back in the chalice and closed it up in the tabernacle. And Jesus stated with is. I undertook to make three days of adoration by way or reparation.”

Hi Justine,

I’ve read her whole diary and it did not depress me. However, I can see how some of it can be troubling.

Faustina was interceding for her community and Jesus, being God, knew she would do this.

It’s somewhat like Abraham interceding for Lot and and the few righteous persons in Sodom.

Many religious orders definitely took a wrong turn especially after Vatican II. It is not inconceivable that if a community becomes corrupted enough, God may no longer bless that community. Many communities have died out since Vatican II, and there must have been some reason for it.

. I undertook to make three days of adoration by way of reparation."
I think the explanation is in what St. Faustina did to remedy Our Lord’s displeasure. It’s as if she said Jesus, you have to remain in the tabernacle. We really need you. I will keep you company to make up for the things around here that displease you.

There is nothing to be depressed about, rather be joyful God’s Mercy has won for us Eternal Bless. “I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over its enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I myself will defend it as My own glory.” (Diary 48) 🙂

Thank you, Ed Silvia and JamalChristophr for helping me get a better understanding. I don’t know why that particular passage was confusing me lol
