Florentius was a Bishop of Orange in France.
He was known for his patronage of monastic scholarship and his personal sancity.
Florentius defended his see against heresies. He died in 526. His feast day is October 17.

What specific heresies was he combating?
I can’t seem to find a more detailed account of his life, but I would guess semi-pelagianism was the heresy he fought. I believe a regional council was held to condemn semi-pelagianism in his diocese of Orange in 529, which was only three years after his death.
