Feast of St. Gertrude, Mass according to 1962 missal:
November 16
ST. GERTRUDE, Virgin
Vestments: white
St. Gertrude, born in 1256 in Germany, was a Benedictine abbess celebrated for her revelations concerning the Sacred Heart. Her writings are very important for mystical theology. She died A.D. 1334.
INDROIT:
Thou hast loved justice and hated iniquity: therefore God, hath annointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. My heart hath uttered the good word: I speak my words to the King. Glory be to the Father…
COLLECT:
O God, who in the heart of the holy Virgin Gertrude didst provide for thyself a pleasant dwelling: through her merits and intercession, do thou, in Thy mercy, wash all stains from out hearts and grant us joyful fellowship with her. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth…
EPISTLE:
From the second letter of Blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians, 10. 17-18; 11. 1-2
Brethren, he that glorieth let him glory in the Lord. For not he who commended himself is approved: but he whom God commendeth. Would to God you could bear with some little of my folly, but do bear with me: for I am jealous of you with the jealously of God. For I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to God.
GRADUAL (Ps. 44 5, 15, 16):
With thy comliness and thy beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Becasue of truth, and meekness, and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.
Alleluia, alleluia. After her shall virgins be brought to the King. Her neighbors shall be brought to thee with gladness. Alleluia.
