I’ve just discovered this Saint and the miracles assosiated with his blood. How do you guys feel about this miracle? Has it been Studied and is it Vatican approved?

It is actually one of the most documented and studied miracles in the Church, as it has been happening for over a thousand years. It is approved by the Church and always happens on the same days, although not necessarily every year. This is the famous San Gennaro that is held in such devotion by many Italians as he is the patron of the city of Naples.

and is it Vatican approved?

I would certainly say so, considering that Pope Francis himself did it a couple years ago.

Whether it is a bona fide miracle or a pious spectacle I know not enough about it to judge - but either way, it falls under “private revelation,” to which Catholics are not bound to believe one way or another.

I learned about this decades ago in a novel called “Emma Who Saved My Life”. The title character’s last name is Gennaro and she explains in the novel all about San Gennaro and this annual miracle with the blood.

Miracles or revelations or whatever happen; they don’t form the basis of faith for Catholics, including myself. They’re just neat things God does from time to time to remind us He’s around. That’s how I feel about it.

On his feast day, (some years ago) I happened to do a Communion Service and I talked about it after the Gospel reading.
