Thanks! I didn’t know that.
Repent and repent and repent. It’s the only way. However many times you turn away from God’s way, you can still turn back towards God, but you have to mean it. God knows you’re weak and your confessions aren’t perfect, but He doesn’t ask any more from you than you can give.Hi all this is my first comment on the entire site, and must admit he’ll deeply frightens. Me and I’m finding myself thinking more on Gods Wrath these days rather than his Love and Mercy as I really don’t want to end up in hell but just dont feel I’m doing enough or repenting right and my confessions are a shambles, is there any hope for someone like myself ? How can I overcome my Fears of God to be immersed in his love and mercy ? I’m a really bad/ terrible sinner and just can’t break this way of life and feel there is no one to console me except Our Lord Jesus whom I’m trying to find a relationship with but my fear seems to be stronger and I feel afraid when going to confession or receiving communion aswell as pretty stupid when walking towards the priest to receive the sacraments and I don’t feel like the penance given to me after confession is enough to Atone for my sins!!!
God of the Old Testament Rath of god, and Jesus in the New Testament ARE THRE SAME IDENTICAL GOD.=Answer;8859997]Hi all this is my first comment on the entire site, and must admit he’ll deeply frightens. The original link is to a homily by someone other than St. John Bosco, but that quotes his dream. If we want to debate Don Bosco’s dream we should read his actual words and not someone’s interpretation (especially not from the site linked). If John Bosco’s statement is true (and it just doesn’t sound like him), then no one is saved. No one.
Unless, of course, there is final contrition.![]()
Actually, it is.Actually not.
Certainly the CC teaches that unconfessed Mortal sins will land one in hell. BUT She [the CC] does not say that is the ONLY way; just the most clear and most certain.
Consider what Christ say’s about the need for charity for example.
Matt.7: 1-5 "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
[4] Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. "
**13-18 **"Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.”
** Matt.19: 17** And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. **If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” **
**Mark.12 :31, 33 **The second is this, `**You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these." **" and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."
Turn to Mary. Our Lord gave us His Mother for our own when He was on the cross. She will love you and pray for you. Say the rosary, and ask Our Lady for help with staying on the right track. She will cover you with her mantle and she will not let you down.Hi all this is my first comment on the entire site, and must admit he’ll deeply frightens. Meanwhile, church-going Catholics are squaring contraception with their consciences.
I agree.Better to be rigourous and be wrong than easy-going and be wrong. The consequences could be terrible.
1033 We cannot be united with God unless we freely choose to love him. But we cannot love God if we sin gravely against him, against our neighbor or against ourselves: "He who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him."612 Our Lord warns us that we shall be separated from him if we fail to meet the serious needs of the poor and the little ones who are his brethren.613 To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God’s merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called “hell.”
1034 Jesus often speaks of “Gehenna” of “the unquenchable fire” reserved for those who to the end of their lives refuse to believe and be converted, where both soul and body can be lost.614 Jesus solemnly proclaims that he "will send his angels, and they will gather . . . all evil doers, and throw them into the furnace of fire,"615 and that he will pronounce the condemnation: "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire!"616
1035 The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, "eternal fire."617 The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.
Notice, the Church affirms this biblical teaching of how those who enter the wider gate which leads to destruction are many. That verse is found in Matthew 7:13-14. Again, the church is affirming the interpretation. It’s not a personal interpretation.1036 The affirmations of Sacred Scripture and the teachings of the Church on the subject of hell are a call to the responsibility incumbent upon man to make use of his freedom in view of his eternal destiny. They are at the same time an urgent call to conversion: "E**nter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few."618 **
