The Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis is a Church I’ve wanted to visit for some time.

Oh, that cathedral is Beautiful!!! But you know, we enjoyed touring the Shrine of St. Joseph even more. As soon as we walked into the nave, we sense that there was something about that Church that was very special even before we learned the story about it. This six part (one hour total) documentary is well worth the watching. youtube.com/watch?v=YdIQf4GEZIc

Thanks for the link.

I know a few people in Atlanta who have gone to St. Louis for the weekend for the purpose of worshiping at these Churches, a pilgrimage of sorts.

Very beautiful places.

All Churches built then celebrated the Latin Mass.
Not so much that, but a lot of interiors have been redesigned. There is Holy Name Cathedral just down the street from St. John Cantius with probably more attendees but one would hardly recognize it if he just woke up from a 50-yr coma. Too much 70’s banal look IMO. And I used to go there a lot.

My husband and I are interested in going on a pilgrimage to visit various old Catholic Churches in the United States. We just have to figure out which ones we want to see and search to see if there are any such tours.

I was there Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Easter Sunday. It is a magnificent church, but the rest of the list of 64 wasn’t anywhere near as impressive as I expected. Some very nice churches, but I could name a long list of churches I think that are far superior.
To be fair, there are probably far more than 64 churches which could be considered. After all, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. But somewhere there has to be a cutoff for this kind of “madness.” Maybe next year they will choose other churches for consideration. It would be interesting to see who will do the actual selection before the voting.
