Well their mass in the Fort Wayne Diocese is more reverent than that of the Toledo Diocese in which I use to live in. Bishop Rhodes I believe is going to make an even more of an impact on the Fort Wayne Diocese. Yes I feel that mass could be more reverent especially including more Latin in the service. There is a group of Brothers and a priest in Fort Wayne that came from Harrisburg with Bishop Rhodes the Franciscan Brothers Minor. They took up residence in the Old Saint Andrews on New Haven Ave. Fr. David Mary did a Franciscan Retreat for us last Saturday at St. Francis and the mass was beautiful and reverent.I was fortunate enough to see an OF Mass said in Latin at this beautiful church last July. It was just plain AWESOME! I went home slightly saddened b/c the OF masses where I live are not very traditional or reverent
I’m glad that there are churches out there like St. John Cantius…too bad there aren’t more of them!

I agree. During Lent and Advent my parish uses more Latin and some Greek (Kyrie) with more “traditional” songs. I’ve heard that Bishop Rhodes is pretty traditional so that is good news
My Parish doesn’t. Bishop Rhodes is pretty traditional. I had the opportunity to meet him at Immaculate Conception in Auburn when he celebrated mass last July. However as far as Latin goes I am going to request to have Fr. Derrick lead us in the Pater Noster at my wedding ceremony in August. It is a blessing to have knowledge of St. John Cantius and their efforts to make known both forms of mass.I agree. We go to Queen of Angels currently although I have toyed with the idea of joining Sacred Heart for the TLM. I don’t think I could attend parishes like St. Charles unless I absolutely had to…WAY too modern for my tastesl! Q of A has recently started chanting the Our Father (in English) so that’s a step in the right direction I think lol!

I will as soon as I can attend a high Mass…the only time I’ve gone was on a Friday night and it was a low Mass. It’s too bad that more parishes in our area don’t have the TLM available.
Very true. It is hard to find priest trained in the EF. Again that is part of the St. John Cantius’ purpose to teach both forms of mass
A little bit of trivia: When the order was first set up, there were plans to have them tri-ritual, having the Byzantine liturgy included. However, as far as I know that was never implemented, focusing strictly on learning (and teaching) the EF and the Latin OF.
It would have been neat to see a Byzantine mass. I have seen a Maronite mass on EWTN, but never Byzantine. I hope maybe one day St. John Cantius will provide Byzantine Liturgy
There are oodles of Byzantine churches in and around Chicago.
I think they still teach Greek. I know they still hold Sunday classes in Latin to all those interested.
Yes they still hold Sunday classes in Latin. It would be interesting if they still teach Greek. It would have also been unique to have experienced a pre-Tridentine Mass
