I know St. John Chrysostom is being “credited” for instructions on CITH, which is used to justify CITH in the RC Church. Now I’m wondering, since he also wrote his version of the Divine Liturgy, was his CITH instruction intended for the clergy which is how our clergy receives Communion until today in the Byzantine Rite and not for the laity? I wonder how Greek Christians received Communion at this time.

I’ve read repeatedly that many received in the hand, and then drank from the common cup. It was not uncomon into the 6th C for the faithful to reserve the Precious Body in their homes.
