St. Joseph Catholic Church in Odenton, MD

There is a possibility that I may be moving to Odenton, MD in a few months to potentially start a new job.

Obviously, I will need to find a Roman Catholic Church to attend to fulfill Sunday / Holy Day obligation. I realize that the town has a Catholic Church named for St. Joseph. What I would like to ask is if anybody knows anything about the Catholicity and Fidelty (i.e: Faithfulness to the Church and the Magisterium) of the parish. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

While we are at, I would also like ask the same question about the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Archbishop O’Brien.

For those who may be moving to a new area and want information on their new parish or diocese may want to try one or more of the following.

1. Check out the parish website and look at their ministries and other activities. You may find helpful information there.
2. Check out the diocesan website. Usually, they have a blog by the Diocesan Bishop. This may give you some insight into his pastoral orientation.
3. Create a list of questions that are important to you. Keep it brief. Send it to the pastor of your new parish with a letter of introduction and explain how it would be helpful to you if he could spare the time to respond. Many pastors find this to be very agreeable.
4. Do not get discouraged if you don’t receive a response. Pastors in larger parishes often receive many emails per day and can’t stay on top of it all. Others simply put it off and end up forgetting.
5. If you know people in the area, ask them how they like their parish.
6. Remember, whether on a forum or in the community, people’s responses are going to be as diverse as the people themselves. We don’t all look at things from the same perspective.
