St. Joseph's feast day - perfect for Lenten quarantine

HAPPY FEAST DAY ST. JOSEPH! Now’s when I get to harass all my secular friends who happen to be named Joe! I don’t know if he was a curmudgeon but gosh darn - the man never spoke and he was obedient, but here’s the thing. We forget how tough he had to be, to stand up to a village who would’ve known Mary was pregnant by someone not-him. I like to imagine him as a bigger guy, kinda Lee Pace large, and how he’d just eye anybody who started to say anything nasty. For some reason I can’t convince myself to imagine him as a hulk of a guy, he’s not a bear, but he’s tall and quiet but intimidating all the more for it.

He’s my patron this year, probably for forever, for a few reasons; may he pray for me to hold my tongue this week >.>

Do any of ya’ll have your favorite St. Joseph images or stories?

I don’t think they knew that. They probably thought him and Mary had gotten together a bit early.
Remember, she also went out of town right after she conceived…I always think that was for her own good/ privacy as well as to help her cousin Elizabeth.

@Tis_Bearself That picture of St. Joseph with baby Jesus is precious and I love seeing him depicted as an adoring father. But the cartoon has some powerful details in it on further examination. Zoom in to take a closer look and reflection. My personal favorite is the green shoot growing up between cracks of sidewalk.
 
Had to go look up the specific biblical reference for the green shoot. It’s Isaiah 11: 1-11.

Regarding your curmudgeon comment lol, I just read a reflection from the office of reading today:
He carried out this vocation with complete fidelity until at last God called him, saying: “Good and faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Now we can see how the last summoning words of the Lord appropriately apply to Saint Joseph: “Enter into the joy of your Lord.” In fact, although the joy of eternal happiness enters into the soul of a man, the Lord preferred to say to Joseph: “Enter into joy.” His intention was that the words should have a hidden spiritual meaning for us. They convey not only that this holy man possesses an inward joy, but also that it surrounds him and engulfs him like an infinite abyss.

Yes, the cartoon has got a whole bunch of biblical references in it that you have to spot. I was puzzled about the green shoot for some time but I finally figured out that reference.

I like both of these very much.

I didn’t understand the beer sign in the second one, though — I read “beer” as “bever” and thought it might be a Dutch cartoon (pronounced the same as the English word without the “a”, means the same thing, the aquatic rodent that builds dams), then it soaked in.
