St. Jude novena

Hi.
I am just wondering about the St. Jude novena. I have been trying to pray it but I have not received anything that is related to what I prayed for. I have seen different people and websites giving different instructions about it. Amongst the different things I heard are:
-5 times for a day without any other St. Jude prayers for 9 days.
-6 times for a day with some additional St. Jude prayers with leaving 9 pamphlets at a church for 9 straight days.
-9 times a day for 9 days.
Based on your experiences which one would you recommend or any other ones that I could try.

Prayer is not a vending machine through which we can demand something we want after putting correct change in. Prayer is a gift.

I would like to recommend reading the “Christian Prayer” section of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which begins at number 2558.

It’s like a Catholic chain letter! Mimeographed spam before we knew the term for it! Abuse of the printing press! Not to mention the spiritual dangers mentioned above. So-called “Novenas” like this often make extraordinary promises with no hint of an Imprimatur or Nihil Obstat. My pastor showed me exactly what to do with them when I find them. Hint: it involves crumpling them up thoroughly and placing them carefully in the circular file.
