That’s wonderful news. Please pray for my diocese, that more parishes may offer the EF here. The only Latin parish in my area is too far for me to attend regularly.

That’s nice. I like both forms of the Mass but the Extraordinary Form Low Mass has the U.S.P of being a wholly contemplative experience; silent prayer and ‘hearing’ the Mass is sometimes what you want, especially during the week, early morning or on your way home from work. Just silently praying and watching a miracle take place on the altar. This is why I think the EF Low Mass has an important role to play in parish life, existing alongside other Masses (inc. the main Sunday Mass) which offer more in the way of full and active participation. Both are important.

Well, I know the definition of ‘‘full and active participation’’ in Sacrosanctum Concilium has been a controversial topic of Catholic discussion over the years, with some arguing that the pre-concilliar forms of the Mass did not facilitate it, or facilitated it to a lesser degree - while others counter that that is a misunderstanding of what is meant by full and active participation.

I didn’t really want to wade into that, suffice to say that an Ordinary Form Sung Mass involves a different, more visible and more ‘direct’ form of participation (not to imply more or less adequate) than an Extraordinary Form Low Mass.

I probably should’ve avoided the wording altogether and just said the way we express our participation in the liturgy is different in each form - and I think both modes of expression are spiritually nourishing and complementary.

Active participation means praying with and in the Spirit with the Church, not “doing stuff”. It’s nice to assist at Mass with tasks, but this is not what is meant by “active participation”.

It would be nice to have a daily EF to go to around here, but with our shortage of priests and the amount of demand I doubt it will happen. I’m content with the mass I go to in the mean time.

This is great news! Thanks 👍

I want to visit there now. 🙂

I think every diocese should have at least one parish with daily TLM.

Prayer offered for that intention.

Wow! This parish is in the town over from me, and I knew that they had always had Sunday EF Masses, but this is quite interesting! Maybe I’ll finally have to go to my first EF Mass now!

May God bless you all! 🙂
