There is no OT reference, it was part of Oral tradition.Thanks Thistle, I did know this one. I was more interested in an OT reference, if there is one. There must be one, right? I mean, how did Jude know the story?

Origen believed that verse 9 was a reference to the apocryphal book The Assumption of Moses. As we don’t have the whole text anymore, there is no way to know for sure.

Could it be that Moses’ appearance at the Transfiguration validated in part the truth within The Assumption of Moses which might not have been entirely inspired by the Holy Spirit?
