I’ve only been at Mass a couple of times when the Leontine Prayers were offered after Mass, but both times the prayer to St. Micael was not the same as the one that I remember from the 1950s. I thought that maybe my memory was at fault, but I just ran into a website that had the exact same prayer that I remember posted, rather than the one that I’ve heard at TLM.
I can’t help wondering if the fact that this website is sponsored by a group that is outside the Church–it’s the same one as the one where 15 sisters just left to make their submission to the
Catholic Church of the ages. I think, if I’m remembering correctly, that this group is sedevacantistic.
Anyway, here is the version of the St. Michael prayer that I remember–has anyone else heard this one lately:
“St. Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. We humbly beseech God to command him. And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the divine power thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who roam through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
