I thought that angels were created beings who are not human. I also thought that a saint is a created being who is also a human being, who has died and gone to heaven. So how do we get to St. Michael the archangel?
A saint is someone officially recognized by the Church to be worthy of public veneration and capable of interceding for us poor souls still on earth. (IE. Anyone known to be in heaven.)
St. Michael the Archangel fits the bill, hence the term “St. Michael the Archangel”
Now for some shameless plugs on St. Michael and angels in general.
If you want to learn more about angels, because they are mind-boggling, I suggest you take a listen to Dr. Kreeft’s lecture on the heavenly host.
No need to feel silly. A lot of people think the word saint means a holy human being only, and so get confused by calling angels by the title of saint. Believe it or not, you’re not the first person to ask this question on the board.
